The Gulf Pine Catholic and Regina Tours invites you on a pilgrimage following the Footsteps of St. Paul

Walk in the footsteps of St. Paul, whose missionary journeys carried the Gospel across the ancient world and helped shape the foundations of the Catholic faith. His preaching, courage and letters continue to guide the Church and call each of us to live the Gospel with conviction.

Join Fr. Joe Dilettuso and Gulf Pine Catholic on an 11-day pilgrimage through Greece, visiting Athens, Corinth, Thessaloniki, Philippi and other places where St. Paul preached and established early Christian communities. On a rocky hill beneath the Acropolis, the Apostle Paul stood before the people of Athens and delivered one of the most remarkable speeches recorded in the New Testament. Surrounded by temples, monuments and images of the gods of the ancient world, Paul had encountered an altar dedicated "To an Unknown God." At the Areopagus—also known as Mars Hill—he used that altar to introduce his listeners to the God whom, he told them, they worshiped without knowing.

Recorded in Acts 17, Paul's address was an extraordinary meeting of Christianity and the intellectual world of ancient Greece. Speaking to Athenians accustomed to debating philosophy and religion, he proclaimed one God as Creator of the world and declared that God "does not live in temples built by human hands." Some dismissed his message, while others wanted to hear more. Among those who believed was Dionysius the Areopagite, remembered by Christian tradition as one of Athens' earliest converts.

Today, visitors can climb the weathered rock of the Areopagus and look toward the Acropolis much as Paul would have nearly two thousand years ago. Few places make the world of the New Testament feel so immediate: ancient Athens rising around you, the Parthenon above, and beneath your feet the place associated with a moment when the Gospel encountered the culture and philosophy of the classical world.

A shipwreck brought the Apostle Paul to Malta.

What followed would forever connect this small Mediterranean island to the story of Christianity. According to the Acts of the Apostles, Paul was being taken as a prisoner to Rome around A.D. 60 when a violent storm drove his ship onto the shores of Malta. The islanders welcomed the survivors, and during Paul's three-month stay, Acts tells us that he healed the father of Publius, the island's chief official, as well as others who came to him seeking healing.
The memory of Paul's time on Malta remains deeply woven into the island's Christian identity. In Rabat, St. Paul's Grotto has been venerated for centuries as the place where tradition holds that the Apostle stayed and preached during his time on the island. Nearby, the ancient catacombs provide archaeological evidence of Malta's early Christian community, while churches, shrines, and traditions across the island continue to preserve its remarkable connection to St. Paul.

Nearly two thousand years later, Malta remains a place where the world of the Acts of the Apostles feels remarkably close. From the waters associated with Paul's shipwreck to the ancient streets of Rabat and Mdina, the island tells a story of how an unexpected arrival became an enduring chapter in the spread of Christianity.
