A is Japan’s traditional wooden townhouse, once home to merchants and craftsmen. Today, some of the best-preserved ones can be found in Kyoto 🏡

This is our 4th Machiya stay in Kyoto with them and ’s second. Their new properties in Kamogawa Gardens are beautifully restored Machiya’s that maintain traditional design while being very comfortable.

These townhouses feature tatami-mat rooms, shoji sliding doors, and an open-air bath overlooking a tranquil Japanese garden. They also have a kitchen which makes it feel more like a home.

Machiya’s are a fantastic choice for group travel. Kamogawa Gardens can accommodate up to 6 guests so if you’re traveling as a family or a group, this luxury stay may be a reasonable alternative to a hotel.

If you’re looking for a unique stay that combines tradition, comfort, and the charm of old Kyoto, a machiya is a great option ❤️

says this travel hack has saved him from MANY a middle seat over the years. It’s actually never failed me and has a 100% perfect record when done correctly!

It’s easiest when done on a computer & even easier if you do it closer to checkin as less seats are available ☺️ share with a mate & save for future use, ENJOY!

PS: can we sue the airlines for saying “random allocation” when we know that’s simply not true 🤨
