We think of bagels as having been popular in New York forever - but it’s only in the past 80 years that they’ve made it outside of Jewish communities (in large part thanks to Murray Lender and the Thompson bagel rolling machine).

This clipping is a reminder that bagels weren’t always mainstream, and it’s a testament to how far they’ve come.
