Fall is the season when these stories feel closest to true. In New Orleans, a mansion on Royal Street still carries the weight of what a fire uncovered in 1834. In Charleston, a Revolutionary War dungeon holds onto more than just its history. In Savannah, a 275-year-old cemetery still shows the marks left by soldiers who camped among its graves during the Civil War. And just outside New York City, a church old enough to have inspired Washington Irving's Headless Horseman still stands exactly where he left it. Which of these four would you want to see for yourself? Tell us in the comments, and let's start planning your trip.

The world lost one of its brightest lights today.

Dolly Parton passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026, at the age of 80. A singer, songwriter, actress, philanthropist, and one of the most genuinely beloved human beings this country has ever known.

She wrote hundreds of songs. She gave away millions of books. She showed up for her community in ways that went far beyond her music. And through it all, she did it with warmth, wit, and a smile that made everyone around her feel like family.

At American Stories Travel, we are proud to call Nashville one of our destinations. A city that Dolly shaped, championed, and loved deeply. Her presence in that city and in this country will be felt for a very long time.

Rest well, Dolly. You will always love us, and we will always love you back. 🕊️

New York City at the holidays is a full sensory experience. And the food is a huge part of why. 🎄🍽️

A classic pastrami sandwich stacked high at a local deli, best paired with a crisp pilsner. A golden panettone tied with a red ribbon, perfect with a cappuccino on a slow holiday morning. And a mug of hot cocoa topped with toasted marshmallows while the city buzzes around you.
This is what the holidays taste like in New York City. And there is truly nothing else quite like it.
Our NYC Culinary Itinerary lets your clients experience all of this and so much more over five privately guided days, from hands-on pizza making and bagel baking to chocolate tastings and food tours through Chelsea Market and beyond. Every bite is guided, every stop is curated, and every moment is handled by our Experience Designers.
Which of these three holiday flavors would you reach for first? Drop your answer in the comments below. 👇🍫

It's the debate that never gets old: New York City or Boston? 🗽⛵

This autumn, we're putting them head-to-head. Matzo ball soup versus clam chowder. A walk through Central Park versus an afternoon in the Public Garden. The energy of the NYC Marathon versus the tradition of the Head of the Charles. Even a weekend away looks different, leaf peeping in the Hudson Valley or wandering the streets of Salem.

Two incredible cities, two very different kinds of fall. We won't pretend we don't have a favorite, but we want to know where you stand.

New York City or Boston? Tell us which one wins for you, and why.

We were in the room in Las Vegas when the Virtuoso Global Awards were announced at this year's Travel Week gala, and what a night it was.

Congratulations to all of this year's winners! The talent and dedication across this industry never stops raising the bar.

Audra spent Travel Week reconnecting with advisors we've known for years and meeting wonderful new ones too. If we crossed paths with you in Las Vegas, it was genuinely great to connect. If we didn't, we're already looking forward to next time.

This is what a work day in New York looks like for us.

A walk through Lincoln Center. A lunch that turned into an hour of real conversation. An afternoon in Central Park, taken in slowly — the same way your clients will.

Lincoln Center or Central Park — which would you choose?

What does a city taste like?

We went looking for the answer in four places: New York, Washington DC, Boston, and Philadelphia. Not the famous version of the story, the real one. Who invented these dishes, why they still matter, and how a single recipe can carry a whole city's history.

Four cities. Four flavors. One journey worth taking, one bite at a time.

New Orleans has a way of staying with you. And we wrote all about it. 🎷

American Stories Travel has just published a new article on Travel Research Online, "New Orleans: A Soulful Connection in the Crescent City." It is our love letter to a city that simply does not resemble anywhere else in America.

The food is its own tradition. The music fills the streets rather than just the clubs. The neighborhoods each tell a different chapter of the same extraordinary story. From the French Quarter to the Garden District to an evening on Frenchmen Street, New Orleans rewards every traveler who takes the time to really experience it.

For travel advisors looking to get to know this destination before bringing it to their clients, and for anyone who has always been curious about the Crescent City, this one is worth a read.
