This is a great area to find some peace and quiet, and the perfect home for those who are particular. Great for adventurers and couch potatoes alike! Year round rugged Adirondack enjoyment can be found outside, while luxury, beautiful lake and mountain views with modern comforts can be found inside. SPRING, SUMMER and FALL
During the warmer seasons our favorite activities include the 3 mile walk
around the lake, hikes to nearby waterfalls, swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking out front. The large front lawn is a great spot to relax in the adirondack chairs while drinking in the view, barbecuing up dinner or lounging around the campfire. Swimming is easy access, but It is a bit rocky, bring water shoes, or public sand beach is one mile away. 2 kayaks, one stand up paddle board and lake floats provided! Open floor plan has an amazing "chefs" kitchen, sitting area with fireplace, dining and a second living area with 40" flat screen for watching Netflix movies. We have no cable here, we come here to get away from the news! Upstairs has a Master bedroom with cathedral ceilings, queen bed, private bath and great lake views. Two guest bedrooms have one double bed each and use of 1/2 bath upstairs, another full bath downstairs. The house is kept in as close to perfect condition as we can manage. We remove shoes prior to going inside - and prefer our guests do as well. However, we know this is asking a lot, so please be mindful of bringing dirt, snow and mud onto our antique wood floors. Kitchen - our favorite room! Beautiful lake views, fireplace and dining table, so the cook can converse with everyone. Double farmhouse sink, 5 burner gas stove, dishwasher, expansive wood counter space. Very nice pots, pans, dishes, glassware, spices and other amenities provided. We do go out of our way to supply amenities that will make our guests stay a little easier and nicer, such as binoculars, table cloths, iron and board, kayaks, paddle board, snowshoes, bikes, paper towels, tin foil, plastic wrap, napkins, sugar, spices, condiments - lots of little things you would find at home but may not think of bringing while traveling. We also share detailed directions on how to get to some amazing local spots, waterfalls and places that you might not find otherwise - some took us years to find! In order to keep this 200 year old Farmhouse in it's current immaculate condition, and it's plumbing in working condition, we cannot have more than 4 persons here in summer, 6 persons other times of year. We do not rent for parties or family reunions, sorry! This is a great house for couples or small family getaways, but not appropriate if you are planning to entertain. The yard out front is where we spend our time, overlooking the lake and mountains beyond. There is a local road between us and the lake, but we are above it and it is somewhat obscured. We have four Adirondack chairs for lounging and enjoying the view. Large picnic table, fire pit and large Weber grill. This is lake country so drives to the different lakes can be fun. Great antiquing and white water rafting up this way. FALL FOLIAGE is AMAZING from the farmhouse! We have unobstructed views of color filled mountains, doubled by the reflection of these mountains on the lake, really is a sight to see! WINTER
Winter is magical here! Cozy and warm inside, great sporting opportunities right out your front door. Snowshoe or cross country ski across the lake or on one of the many trails through the snow covered woods. Lapland Lake is a world class cross country resort with reindeer and authentic Finnish food. Downhill ski at family friendly Oak Mt. just a 15 minute drive, or much larger Gore which is 35 minutes away. Ice fishing, snowmobiling, and of course winter hiking to our local waterfalls are other favorite activities. Speculator (next town over) rents snowmobiles, you can sled from here to Canada on wide expanse of groomed trails - this is amazing snowmobile country. Guided tours available for those trying it for the first time. Give it a shot - experiencing the Adirondack woods in winter, gliding over lakes, stopping in at different Pubs for a pint and a stew can be great fun. Highly recommended. MORE ABOUT THE FARMHOUSE
This is one of the oldest homes in town - was a working farm for 100+ years. Fully renovated 2010. Sits on elevated 3/4 acre overlooking Lake Algonquin. Truly gorgeous view. Porch - there is a large porch on the backside of house. Can read out there or store your skiis and toys. There is a sitting area to remove and store shoes so if you would like to be shoe free in house, as we are, it is convenient. What might you NOT love? RECYCLES - are a real hassle here. Guests must agree to take them home if you brought a lot. Leaving a few is fine, but you must agree to follow the towns strict recycle rules - they must be kept clean and separate from garbage. We (i.e. the housekeeper) then have to take them to the dump and separate them into bins by hand. We simply cannot handle this task if large amounts are left. So - our general rule here is, if you bring a lot in, you must agree to take them out! Leaving small amounts (less than one bag full) are fine, and will be hauled to dump by our fabulous housekeeper. No smoking, no pets (no exceptions, sorry!) and no candles please, this is an allergy sensitive home. See our website for rates and availability
