As someone that had a whole year of traveling plans and then had to put on hold, because life got different for us, I beg you:
Don’t wait for the stars to align, book your ticket now. Life will throw curveballs, and the future is uncertain. Take the trip, chase the dream, and make the memories. Regret is a heavier burden than uncertainty.

Keep home at home and savor the unknown.

When I see someone complaining while traveling, because in the destination they don’t do the things as they do it back home, the food is different, the language is different, culture is different; I always meditate about how sad it is expecting the familiar things while traveling prevents you to really enjoy the unknown.

As you travel open your mind, and the world will open its doors. Don’t replicate your routine, rewrite your story. Every bite, every sight, every encounter is a chance to rediscover the world and yourself.

I lost a friend two days ago, one that around 10 years ago left his highly paid and demanding corporate job and became a teacher, when I asked him why, he said to me: “Flavia, life is too short to not do something that brings you joy, teaching and traveling brings me joy”. This week he was no longer with us.

But oh did he enjoyed life, he went to different countries to teach, he traveled a lot, and little did he know what was coming later.

That gave me a big lesson: DO NOT POSTPONE YOUR HAPPINESS.

Don’t settle for a life that doesn’t spark joy. Book that ticket, move to that city, start that new career. The world is waiting for you, and so is your happiness. Remember, the biggest risk is not taking the risk at all.
