🌸 Hidden NYC: Your Midtown Escape

Right in the middle of the city that never stops… there’s a place that does.

Tucked between skyscrapers, Greenacre Park feels like a secret waiting to be found.

Just a few steps inside, a cascading waterfall softens the noise, and the pace of the city fades into the background.

It’s a quiet reminder that even here, in the heart of Manhattan, you can still find a moment to breathe.

If you know, you know 💚

Lower East Side Kitchens with SusanSez ✨

Whenever I walk the Lower East Side, I always remind people that these streets once fed a city.

Every bagel, pickle barrel, and bakery window tells a survival story — recipes passed down, flavors remembered, and traditions that still shape how New York eats today.

This neighborhood didn’t just fill stomachs… it built community.

Did you know in 1904, when The New York Times moved into their brand-new tower, the whole area was renamed “Times Square.”

Imagine that — a single building sparking what would become the crossroads of the world

It’s amazing how many NYC landmarks started with a simple idea and a whole lot of ambition. That’s the New York spirit!

Walk through it with me sometime — it hits differently when you know the history behind the lights.

Did you know one of NYC’s most beloved holiday movies actually filmed right inside the real Macy’s on 34th Street?

“Miracle on 34th Street” Filming at Macy’s Herald Square

There’s something so charming about knowing the movie’s “North Pole” moments took shape right in the aisles where we still shop today. NYC doesn’t just celebrate the holidays — it helps create their stories.

If you love those behind-the-scenes NYC tidbits, come along on a SusanSez NYC Walkabouts tour… I’ve always got a little movie magic up my sleeve! 🎄

🚇 Have You Seen the Masstransiscope?

One of NYC’s coolest hidden art surprises lives between subway stations — and most people ride right past it!

It’s called the Masstransiscope, an underground art installation by Bill Brand. As your train moves (on the B/Q line leaving the Dekalb Ave. Station), it comes to life like a moving cartoon — a modern-day zoetrope you can only see in motion.

NYC isn’t just a city… it’s a living gallery, and sometimes the best art is hiding between stops.

On This Day: November 24 — The Flatiron Was Finished!

On this day in 1902, the Flatiron Building was officially completed — and NYC gained one of its most unique landmarks.

It wasn’t the tallest building, but that triangle shape made everyone stop and stare.

If you love NYC stories like this, come walk with me on a SusanSez NYC Walkabouts tour — we’ll explore landmarks, legends, and the secrets hidden in plain sight.
