Thanks Patty!

As a seasoned traveler who has explored cities across the globe, my recent experience with New York Highly Rated Tours' NY Main Attractions Tour', was nothing short of exceptional. This 5.5-hour fully guided tour masterfully combines the city's most iconic sites with insightful commentary, making it a must for anyone keen on truly understanding New York's essence.

The journey commenced with a visit to the Statue of Liberty, allowing us to appreciate this emblem of freedom up close. Following this, we paid our respects at the 9/11 Memorial & Memorial Pools—a poignant and moving experience. The tour also led us through the architectural marvel of Grand Central Terminal, the vibrant streets of Little Italy, the historic corridors of Wall Street, and the serene ambiance of Trinity Church.

What sets this tour apart is the seamless integration of New York's public transportation system. Navigating the city via bus and subway not only provided an authentic urban experience but also showcased the efficiency and rhythm of daily life in the metropolis.

Our guide, Marc, was exceptionally knowledgeable, weaving historical facts with contemporary anecdotes, enriching our understanding of each landmark. His passion for the city was palpable and added a personal touch to the tour.

For the value it offers—$99 for adults and $89 for children—the 'NY Main Attractions Tour' is a comprehensive and enriching experience that I highly recommend to both first-time visitors and seasoned explorers of New York City.

A Day of Exploration: My 5.5-Hour New York City Tour with Highly Rated Tours

By Johnny | February 24, 2025

I decided to treat myself to a 5.5‑hour tour of New York City with, New York Highly Rated Tours —something I hadn’t done in years—and oh, what a day it turned out to be. I started at 9:00 in the morning, Meeting our tour guide for the dayarc, right in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral at 50th and 5th. I remember when I was young, churches were places of quiet awe, and standing before that magnificent structure, I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of nostalgia mixed with excitement.

New York City Tour
The tour used a combination of city bus and subway, and I must say, the modern buses even have their own lanes to beat the notorious New York traffic—a far cry from the days when we just hoped for a little luck on the road. The ride itself was a pleasant reminder of how much the city has changed over the decades.

Our first big stop was Grand Central Terminal. I’ve seen many train stations in my time, but Grand Central still takes my breath away with its grand architecture and the bustling energy of commuters and travelers alike. Next, we ventured into Little Italy for a guided tour that reminded me of a time when neighborhoods were more than just a collection of buildings—they were living communities with a soul.

One of the day’s highlights was the 45‑minute visit to the Statue of Liberty. Seeing that towering symbol of freedom up close stirred memories of stories I heard long ago about hope and new beginnings. Afterward, we paused at the 9/11 Memorial and its tranquil pools for another 45 minutes, a moment to reflect on the resilience and enduring spirit of this great city.

The tour continued on foot along the historic Ticker-Tape Parade Route. I couldn’t help but smile as we strolled past Wall Street—yes, even the famous Wall Street Bull seemed to nod in approval as we learned about the city’s financial history. Our guides then led us on gentle walks through Federal Hall and Trinity Church, where every stone seemed to whisper tales of the past.

Before I knew it, the tour was winding down in the bright lights of Times Square—a place that still dazzles even after all these years. Along the way, I also got a glimpse of other iconic spots: I passed by Madison Avenue, Union Square, the impressive Met Life and Chrysler Buildings, the bustling Diamond District, and even the majestic New York Public Library. I found myself wandering past the Marble Collegiate Church, admiring the unique shape of the Flatiron Building, and enjoying a quiet moment in Madison Square Park.

The journey didn’t stop there; the tour took me through charming areas like Greenwich Village, the vibrant energy of SOHO, and even the historic Cast Iron District. I also took in the sights of Battery Park, Castle Clinton, the Elizabeth Ann Seton Memorial, Chelsea Piers, and the mighty USS Intrepid Aircraft Carrier—not to mention a quick look at the ever-energetic Hells Kitchen.

It was a day of rediscovery and reflection—a reminder that New York City, with all its ceaseless activity and rich history, continues to offer new surprises and cherished memories for an old soul like mine.
