I am proud to serve as President of the Exchange Club of Baton Rouge for the 2026-2027 year starting July 1! We are a volunteer service organization, part of the National Exchange Club, and we do amazing things for our community. From our Adopt-A-Teacher grants to our youth scholarships and monthly volunteer projects, we truly make a difference here in Baton Rouge. Join us!

Happy Juneteenth! The Baton Rouge African American History Museum is officially back open! It was so packed tonight you could barely move! After the program there was more space to move and look around and see the exhibits. I helped to hang some of the pieces and it was amazing to see everything all come together this evening. I can’t wait to see the wonderful things that come about through this place. The community is here!!!

Louisiana, it’s time for change.

We sit on a wealth of resources yet give away the money that we need to invest back into our state.

My plan calls for:

Every parish to identify core projects that are needed yet have gone unfunded (infrastructure, health, education, and more).

Parishes complete studies and estimates for projects.

We calculate the reduction in industry tax breaks needed to fund projects.

The state legislature passes the necessary tax changes- a TEMPORARY reduction in the percentage of tax breaks that industry receives. They still get tax breaks, just a smaller percentage.

We invest in every parish and complete the core projects. Everyone benefits from a better Louisiana.

In 2027 we vote in new leadership for the state. I am calling upon elected officials and those considering running to use this plan as a rallying cry for the state and to show how you will deliver for us all.

Louisiana succeeds when its people succeed. These investments will create the conditions that businesses need to grow and produce- stronger infrastructure, safer communities, a skilled workforce, better schools…we have everything we need. It’s time to create a better state for us all.

The moment voters were face to face with how their vote impacted their neighborhood. However they voted, or if they voted, the impact to everyday life is clear. Make sure to have your voices heard and get leadership who will care about your issues. A resident asks about cancelled grants and it is explained that under the this Presidential administration grants for projects like this were cancelled all across the country, and even FEMA itself was at risk, and we know the impact they have here. Thank you to Stop the Garden District from Flooding for an amazing meeting! I am so inspired by what your community has done to work on getting results for issues that matter to local residents. A town hall in the median with neighbors and elected officials and leaders coming out to YOU? Yes we need more of this! I encourage everyone to get together with your neighbors and work as a group to get the changes you need to see! Please check out their page for more information. At the meeting it was explained that there were grants that were awarded for these projects that were cancelled by this presidential administration in the last 18 months. It was a sobering moment to hear that. I wondered how many residents had voted for this administration and then saw a direct impact of it right there on their street. They have the plan, expanding the 12’ diameter pipes to 36’, but there’s no money. After the meeting I spoke to the mayor and other leaders and suggested that the state do a temporary reduction by a fraction of a percentage to the tax cuts they give Exxon and other industries to pay for this infrastructure. They said they are looking into it but they don’t want the industries to leave. My suggestion is that communities all over the parish get together and make a plan for the issues they need fixed, get estimates, and combine it all for a temporary decrease in the percentage of tax cuts we give industry so that we can fund these critical needs.

Come with me to be FIRST IN LINE to early vote at the Louisiana State Archives this morning! I got there early because I wanted to be first, and I was able to wait inside in the AC until the polls officially opened, thank goodness! I waited about 20 minutes and in that time more came in and a line formed inside. I voted for Jamie Davis for US Senate and YES to all propositions for East Baton Rouge Library Council On Aging and BREC Parks. We voted NO for thrive, now they’ve put clean propositions up and it’s time to support. Get out and vote!!
