Essex St. Cheese focuses on selecting and importing a limited range of iconic European cheeses. We are cheesemongers ourselves.

We offer cheesemonger training and education both on-site and with trips to the source of the cheese, in France, Holland, Italy and Spain. Follow us as we travel the world seeking the best representations of classic artisanal cheeses. Follow us as we travel the United States educating our friends and customers about our cheeses. Mareike’s “Rispens” has landed in the US! And we just so happened to be able to tell her in person the same week how excited we were along with three of her biggest fans!

If you remember, this Spring, Leah, Juhl and Katie visited Booij Kaasmakers to meet Marijke Booij who would take over production over Rispens and as we discovered, bring it “home”. Well, now seven months later the cheese is matured and in the United States for you to try.

We are so thrilled at how this sheep’s milk gouda has taken shape over the last six years and is now being made using the best milk in the best hands and aged in the best environment to the best profile so it can be its best version yet. We can’t wait for you to try it so order yours today!!

As we reflect on the last twenty years, we ask ourselves the question - do we go wide or do we go deep? We decided to go deep. 9 meters below ground to be exact.
