Old Port Holiday Historic Walking Tours are now in full swing!

We begin our 2 1/2 hour, 2 mile, exciting walking tour in the center of Monument Square (directly next to the City of Portland’s official holiday tree) to discuss the origins of the Christmas tree and the first Christmas celebrated in America. During our journey, we will discover over 50 historic stops, visit the magical lobster trap tree in the heart of the Old Port, and hear the story of Charles Dickens’s “bizarre” visit to Portland. At the end of the tour, we will visit the outside of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s famous home where you’ll hear the history of his famous poem Christmas Bells. Don’t miss it!

The most beautiful things in life are laughter and happiness, and that’s exactly what Cabot Lyford was thinking when he sculpted “Life Force,” a seven-ton dolphin sculpture created from Maine Deer Isle granite (some of the world‘s most sought-after granite).

Lyford once said that dolphins are smarter than humans because they play more, so let’s get to it and enjoy a fun, whimsical, and joyous historic walking tour of Portland‘s Old Port like this handsome couple enjoying a private tour. 🧡
