YARAT 10IL / MULTIMEDIA SHOW
Hypnotica has become a part of a grand celebration - the 10th anniversary of YARAT Contemporary Art Space by creating a video mapping show dedicated to the main activities of the organization! On behalf of all the creators of the project, we would like to thank Aida Makhmudova and the entire Yarat team for trusting us and supporting our artistic freedom in making this project!
We decided to take as the basis of the project five fundamental areas: Art, Sculpture, Music, Photo/Video and Installations. We have worked on each of these topics in such a way to give the illusion that the architecture of the building itself reveals the plot of the show.
In the "Art" part, rich brushstrokes smoothly cover the entire facade, the same way an artist covers the canvas with paint colors. In the "Sculpture" part, we integrated Niyaz Najafov’s sculptures. They materialize from the stones of the facade and turn into a composition. In the "Music" part, the entire facade is reveled to demonstrate a spectrum of audio reactive 3D surfaces, which bend and deform under the frequencies of music, thereby visualizing it. In the "Photo/Video" part we decided to show the formation of images in the camera lens thanks to the light penetrating into it, which travels through the structure, slides through numerous lenses, and leads to the creation of an image on the matrix. In the "Installation" part, we created a construction that appears out of the facade, and is visible to the audience from different angles of view, in order to show the correctness that this -at first glance- abstract composition has in its form. Each part ends sequentially with for each letter of "Yarat" name, thereby forming a single storyline that permeates the whole show and leads to the final part.
In the final part of the show, we created an epic scene based on the idea that Time is fleeting. The ten years of Yarat’s existence leave a mark on the History of Azerbaijani Art!
