About Durian L13 — this durian might be the reason Richard came back to Malaysia after he met me 😆 or so I like to tease him.
In 2018 Richard got to taste unique D. lowianus hybrid for the first time. It’s a melt-in-your-mouth experience with the texture of butter and the zinging acetone sweetness of pineapple whiskey, banana and chocolate. It sends a heady sensation of heat straight to my cheeks and it’s a durian that might just make you drunk 😆🥂in epicness
Richard thought surely it would be a “ghost durian” experience — an epic moment of flavor that could never again be repeated, the perfect triumvirate of weather, timing and group enthusiasm but no —
In 2023 we went back to see Harry and he had some L13 for us to taste again. It was just as good as we remembered.
So when we were discussing which durian tree 🌳 🌳to plant for our baby twins, we immediately thought about L13. Who knows, maybe that first L13 triggered the butterfly effect needed for the twins to even exist 😆😆 if so, thanks Harry!
