At the end of 2016 and early 2017, we had a great time with students from Bangladesh!

Mahin and Atik soon became my buddies. They were smart, friendly, respectful and humorous. So, we clicked! :)

We had a lot of fun at Madame Tussauds as we met the wax replicas of the celebrities. My favourite was Amitabh Bachchan, the Indian legend actor. Well, kids had different ideas. But anyway, it was my first time there and it was a lot of fun seeing many celebrities we used to see on the big screen...

Well, then, we tried to go up to the Empire State building on 4th of January, 2017, which became "a waiting disaster"as we needed to stay in the line for about 2.5 hours! No kidding! That day, -4th of January 2017- is going to stay in our minds forever!!!

Tip: If you visit Manhattan, spare time and definitely visit Madame Tussauds. It's worth visiting.

Tip: Never try again Empire State building during the 1st week of any new year.

Invited by Global Education, this is my 2nd day in London, England.

Global Education is another education consultancy company and we'd like to do business together. That means America and England hand in hand, covering almost the whole globe. Well, it sounds great, doesn't it?

They have an office close to Saint Paul Cathedral, which is a central landmark in downtown London.

There in the square next to the cathedral sits a table-tennis table with 2 rackets and a ball for any persons interested in a few shots any time of the day. Believe me, it is great fun!

So, there are tricks by the wealthy, celebrity and the powerful into getting into Ivy League Colleges, so argues Daniel Golden in his book, "The Price of Admission."

The summary below is from "www.buffalolib.org/vufind/Record/1696789/Reviews."

Every spring thousands of middle-class and lower-income high-school seniors learn that they have been rejected by America's most exclusive colleges. What they may never learn is how many candidates like themselves have been passed over in favor of wealthy white students with lesser credentials--children of alumni, big donors, or celebrities.

In this explosive book, the Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Daniel Golden argues that America, the so-called land of opportunity, is rapidly becoming an aristocracy in which America's richest families receive special access to elite higher education--enabling them to give their children even more of a head start. Based on two years of investigative reporting and hundreds of interviews with students, parents, school administrators, and admissions personnel--some of whom risked their jobs to speak to the author-- The Price of Admission exposes the corrupt admissions practices that favor the wealthy, the powerful, and the famous.

In The Price of Admission , Golden gives names, along with grades and test scores. He reveals how the sons of former vice president Al Gore, one-time Hollywood power broker Michael Ovitz, and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist leaped ahead of more deserving applicants at Harvard, Brown, and Princeton. He explores favoritism at the Ivy Leagues, Duke, the University of Virginia, and Notre Dame, among other institutions. He reveals that colleges hold Asian American students to a higher standard than whites; comply with Title IX by giving scholarships to rich women in "patrician sports" like horseback riding, squash, and crew; and repay congressmen for favors by admitting their children. He also reveals that Harvard maintains a "Z-list" for well-connected but underqualified students, who are quietly admitted on the condition that they wait a year to enroll.

The Price of Admission explodes the myth of an American meritocracy--the belief that no matter what your background, if you are smart and diligent enough, you will have access to the nation's most elite universities. It is must reading not only for parents and students with a personal stake in college admissions but also for those disturbed by the growing divide between ordinary and privileged Americans.

The Insider's Guide to Getting into The Ivy League and Other Top Colleges is an important book to read.

One surprising thing about the book is that the writer used to be in the admissions of an Ivy League college from 1992 to 1997. That has been almost 20 years ago. Do you know what she says in her book? She says that the admissions process to these top colleges hasn't changed much!

I think one of the critical questions from the parents' perspective is "Can my child get into Ivy League school?" The writer says "parents can't do anything about it. No money, no wealth, no rank or social status can help. Your son or daughter is the only person who can get into an Ivy League."

Well, it definitely has an interesting start.

The United States is a place full of wonders.
One of the beauties is that this is a place you can visit any season.
Many like to visit during summer, where there is plenty of sunshine, when it's hot, when places are crowded.
On the other hand, some but not many would choose a different path, to come and visit the USA during Winter.

For those of you who fall into the 2nd category, we have a marvelous "Winter Trip" program for you. For different budgets and different tastes, we offer 4 options starting with the most economical one to the most exclusive.
