I run a Youtube channel where I do interviews, video essays and shorts. A unique walking tour of Hasidic Williamsburg by guides who grew up in the community. See our Tripadvisor page for what our visitors say about this little gem in NYC.

I won’t be going to Middlebury for the Hebrew language interview since after all. Perhaps next year. In the meantime, I’d love to give a tour next Friday, June 26 at 11am. I need bookings. Check my calendar on my website to see if you’re interested in coming. Friedavizel.com/calendar

Pearl is back. An anti Zionist Jewish woman who expresses the convictions of a world carefully led by God. In this context, she sees a lot of suffering as the consequences of our own since. This is a view I find very troublesome, but I respect her convictions. In the next two weeks we will be sharing some conversations on my YouTube channel. It feels like 100 degrees in NYC today and Hasidic Jews like Mr. Shtessel roll with full garb. I asked Mr Shtessel how he manages.

I’ve been trying all the black and white cookies in New York City. These cookies carry so much story of Jewish New York and the culture we brought to this great city. There are also Italian versions and those called half moon cookies that are the same. It’s been a lot of fun trying them all and finding the variety.

😅 Am I doing holy work? I’m nervous even posting this. I do think now’s a good time to talk about the value and dangers of doing work talking openly about the good and bad of the Jewish community. It’s getting harder to have difficult conversations because the climate feels ripe for antisemitism to twist everything. Still, I believe we must make space for conversations that are in good faith, from the inside and outside. I wouldn’t call it holy thought! Watch my full interview with on YouTube via link in bio.

The traditions of Hasidic courts is to make massive weddings where the whole community is invited. This is like royal weddings, with a ton of pomp and ceremony. A lot of it is filmed and published online. One of my small pleasures is to watch Hasidic weddings because they are intense, emotional gorgeous experiences. The Rebbish weddings take this to a whole new level.

Who remembers 1800-555-Tell? The original ai phone chat bot!

06/04/2026

Hasidic Jews are not against AI in the right places. For instance, people use it all the time for work. I have not seen any campaigns against its use at the office. However, chatting with Ai bots is another problem! Especially children at home, who could be deeply influenced by these worldly machines. The solution to keeping the world out used to be not to have computers at home. The problem? You can call AI chat bots from home phones and kosher phones. This is the most recent outcry by the Satmar Rabbi R’ Aaron Teitelbaum. I have watched this community wrestle with technology for many years and respond to its challenges with tremendous innovation. We will see what the future holds for this new frontier!
