Most travelers visit Athens just for the Acropolis.

But some of the city's most memorable moments happen in the streets below it.
Wander beyond the main sights and you'll find the quieter corners of Plaka, where colorful doorways, hidden courtyards, and family-run cafés feel untouched by time.

Climb a little higher and you'll reach Anafiotika, a tiny hillside neighborhood built by island craftsmen in the 19th century. Its whitewashed houses, narrow pathways, and bougainvillea-covered walls make you feel as though you've been transported to a Cycladic island, right in the heart of Athens.

📍 Travel tip: Visit Anafiotika early in the morning or just before sunset for the most peaceful experience and beautiful light for photos.

Athens is full of hidden corners—you just have to slow down enough to find them.

Have you explored beyond the Acropolis? 🇬🇷

"I wouldn't take you only to the famous places."

I'd show you the winding alleys before they wake up.
The tavernas where lunch lasts for hours.
The beaches locals return to again and again.
The sunsets that make you forget what time it is.

Some towns you pass through on your way to somewhere else. Gythio is the one I always stop for.
It sits on the southern coast of the Peloponnese, in Laconia, where the colored houses climb the hillside and the fishing boats still come in at first light. Long ago, this was the harbour of ancient Sparta. Just off the waterfront there is a small island, Kranae, with a lighthouse and the ruins of a temple to Aphrodite.

Have you been to this corner of Greece?

If you're flying into Athens, this one's for you.

Getting from the airport to your hotel is straightforward — once you know what to expect. Taxis, Uber, FREENOW — here's the honest breakdown.
Save this before you travel.

Most travelers come to Greece for the islands.

But at the foot of Mount Olympus lies a different side of the country.

Litochoro is where mountain trails begin, local tavernas serve traditional Macedonian flavors, and ancient myths still shape the landscape. Surrounded by forests, gorges, and the highest peaks in Greece, this charming village is the gateway to the mountain once believed to be the home of the gods.

Whether you're looking for adventure, authentic culture, or simply a slower pace of travel, Litochoro offers an experience far beyond the typical Greek holiday.

Have you ever imagined exploring Greece's legendary mountain?

Can I tell you something about Crete that most people never get to see?
There is a tradition called the mantinada. Two rhyming lines that Cretans have been passing to each other for centuries. Shepherds composed them on the hillsides. Families exchange them at weddings. Nobody writes them down. You just carry them.
That is the Crete I want to show you.
This October we are taking a small group to Chania — eight days when the crowds are gone and the island is finally itself again.
Send us a message. We would love to tell you more.

What comes to mind when you think of Cretan food?

Maybe it's ntakos, a glass of raki, or the famous graviera cheese.
Cretan cuisine is much more than a collection of dishes—it's a way of bringing people together, sharing stories, and celebrating local traditions.

From simple ingredients to recipes passed down through generations, every dish tells a story about the island and its people.

Which one would you try first?

This is only Part 1 of our journey through Cretan flavors
