Small Giants

Small Giants Small Giants is the brain child of Shelly Ni and gaïa orain. We met this fall while tinkering in the Visible Futures Lab at SVA.

Shelly is an MFA student in Interaction Design and gaïa is an MFA student in Products of Design at the School of Visual Arts. Shelly has years of experience conducting design research and usability testing for start-up teams and academic institutions. Since completing her Product Design degree at Stanford, she’s helped launch several products, most notably a dining and nightlife recommendation app

, Alfred, acquired by Google after launch. gaïa has experience in material research and development, both at Cirque du Soleil and Hexagram’s XS Labs design research studio. She has a BFA in Design from Concordia University with a major in textiles and ceramics. Before her undergraduate degree, she studied culinary arts.

Small Giants is looking to connect with people in the NYC area with hand injuries and/or chronic conditions such as parkinson's, stroke, arthritis and carpal tunnel that greatly affects the usage of their hands. We are offering compensation for a 15-30 min interview and user testing session during the week of June 17-24.
