Anicka Yi’s multi-sensory experience of air and sea, making generous use of the cavernous space of Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall in London.

Floating in the air, her machines – called aerobes – are based on ocean life forms and mushrooms.

They re-imagine artificial intelligence and encourage guests to think about new ways machines might inhabit the world.

Yi has also created unique scent scapes which change weekly, with odors linked to a specific time in the history of Bankside.

LAB at Rockwell Group’s annual installation of glowing colored lights hung from the ceiling of Brookfield Place - back with a participatory twist. This year, guests could conduct the canopy in an interactive experience called “Maestro.”

Holiday music played in the background while guests could use gesture-controlled instruments to create unique light shows.

Luminaries is a holiday ritual inspired by the season’s traditions of sharing, giving, community, and light.

“Over the Rainbow” - a vibrant rooftop intervention by 100architects, bringing new life to an unused terrace onto a commercial building in Changsha, China.

The project depicting a rainbow is an eye-catching rooftop renovation that combines art, play, and social interaction.

The studio sought to form a trendy outdoor community hub, serving as a meeting point and leisure space that invites people of all ages to explore and interact.

The Outrage, an organization turning the Ugly Christmas Sweater into something beautiful.

Whether in the form of protest or celebration, these pullovers have something more to say than a Santa pun or quote from Home Alone.

The Outrage is a hub for activism that leverages the power of community with a network of activists. Partnering with non-profits and social movements, they are a grassroots foundation that donates part of every single sale to progressive organizations and education.

The Meta Biennale 2021, where virtual worlds expand to become mainstream hubs for social interaction, exchange, and entertainment.

With a series of performances, panel talks, and exhibitions, it encompasses the whole package of a traditional art fair: buying, selling, and viewing art, as well as networking and socializing- all fulfilled within the comforts of your home (or in this case, your headset).

Burberry’s first-ever immersive brand experience on Jeju Island, South Korea.

The ephemeral destination sees the essence of nature and technology merge together for a short period through a mirrored sculptural building that takes naturalistic inspiration from the topography of the Sanbangsan mountain.

Reflective on the surface, the building mirrors its natural surroundings, aiming to blur the lines between nature and technology, the indoors and outdoors, the real and the imagined.

Ulf Mejergren Architects (UMA) exploration in what can be done when using gingerbread cookies on a larger scale. The result of their investigation is an edible hut, made of thousands of gingerbread cookies.

At the end of the year, immense amounts of gingerbread cookies are produced and shipped out to every local grocery store in Sweden. It is also very common for people to buy small building sets with walls, roofs, and chimneys so they can create their own little gingerbread house at home.

Although it was tempting to bake and form every building part for this hut, UMA bought pre-made cookies which are perfectly identical. The team cut up an old garden hose to use as a frame, creating two large interconnected discs.

the “Immersive Van Gogh” installation at Amoeba Music’s former Sunset Boulevard record store in LA.

The larger-than-life works are projected on the walls along with music and sounds by composer Luca Longobardi. Paintings such as Starry Night and the famous irises shift and transform before your eyes as you wander through the spaces.

The exhibit has already seen successful runs in other cities around the world and its original creator, Italian artist Massimiliano Siccardi, has been working with immersive experiences for 20 years.

Siu Kai Fong, a community-driven installation in North Point, one of Hong Kong's fastest-changing districts.

o&o studio and REHyphenation sought to empower the community and envision a better future use of public areas, while upcycling some of the locals’ beloved furnishings, to recall memories from the past.

The resulting project presents itself as a vivid compilation resembling an outdoor urban living room complemented by painted ground graphics.

The spectacle is made up of six different experiential installations, each one featuring holiday-appropriate accents (Ice queens! Gingerbread girls! Lumberjacks!), that all end up inside Santa's secret speakeasy - a fun variety show starring ballet pros, burlesque acts, live music and more.
