Getting tickets for the Vesak (Waisak) festival at Borobudur is a magical experience, but it does require some planning as details for 2026 are still being finalized.

Typically, the process involves two different types of access:

1. Official Channels to Watch
Since official ticket sales usually open closer to the event (often a few months or weeks before), we recommend keeping a close eye on these official sources:

2. Types of Tickets
Temple Entrance: You will need a standard entrance ticket to the Borobudur Temple complex.
Lantern Ceremony (Lentera Puja): This is the highlight of the festival! Tickets for the lantern release are usually sold separately. In the past, these have been available at booths in Lumbini Garden within the complex or through specific online registration links shared by the organizers.

Helpful Tips:
Book Early: Accommodations in Magelang and nearby Yogyakarta fill up very quickly for Vesak, so it's a good idea to secure your stay well in advance.

Arrival: The lantern release usually happens late at night, but the processions start much earlier in the day from Mendut Temple.
