Hey guys! I am still here, isolating, however, I do feel like by summer, a trip may happen (hopefully, I am comfortable). This new requirement for foreign travelers to the US, gives me hope. JetBlue is only allowing refunds and cancelations for free, until tomorrow, 6/30/2020! If you are booked with them, call today, even if you wait on hold for 20 minutes, if you would like a refund or any travel credit used, to be extended (my case).

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS TO CUBA

On October 25, 2019, the Trump administration announced new travel restrictions to Cuba. As of December 1, 2019, flights from the United States to all airports in Cuba, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF Jose Martí Airport in Havana, have been banned.

Sec. Pompeo said in an announcement on Twitter, “This action will prevent the Castro regime from profiting from U.S. air travel and using the revenues to repress the Cuban people,”

U.S. carriers have been given a 45-day grace period to complete previously booked flights to Cuban destinations.

In response to the Trump administration's policy, JetBlue announced that they plan to cease service to Camagüey, Holguín, and Santa Clara airports as of December1 2019. Existing ticket holders to those destinations will be issued a full refund or may have their tickets rebooked to Havana.

In case you missed it, you can still fly into Havana.

Life has been kicking my ass the past few months, beginning Ocotber 2018. With this beatdown, with a few wins, followed by obstacles, I had to take a pause from traveling.

I had every intention on being away this weekend in a sunny, warm place, learning about culture and history, solo. However, due to sudden civil unrest and the US Embassy advising people to not travel to the country, I had to cancel and thankfully, I lost no money! Unfortunately, the citizens of this country are once again in turmoil, which makes me sad, but makes me more fascinated in how they stand for what they believe in, as their history already showed.

With this sudden change, I learned a couple things:

1. If you can, cut to the chase and ask the airline for an "airline credit". Some airlines are great at giving these. I learned I had to word it differently and cut to the chase by just asking for it. I have a year to use the money already spent, with this airline.

2. Insurance: I can't express how important this is! Always purchase it! I did learn however, the basic coverage I purchased, did not cover my issue fully but was advised, I could file a claim and attach supporting documents and possibly be reimbursed (notifications from the embassy, news articles about the notification, etc). I was informed unless it was a terrorist act, I wasn't covered. So always call, after you purchase your flight, to make additions to your coverage.

So this long weekend, I'm chillin in the cold in NYC, enjoying my 2nd weekend in a row off from my 2nd job, and playing catch up with friends!
