Ever wonder how the Statue of Liberty traveled from France to the United States States? The image of a 305 foot (and one inch) tall statue sitting on a boat across the Atlantic Ocean is pretty humorous. Well, the answer is she came in 350 separate pieces packed into 214 boxes, and was reassembled when she got to Liberty Island. (Then known as Bedloe’s Island.)

Most visitors explore the famous Ellis Island Immigration Museum—but did you know you can actually go inside the abandoned Ellis Island Hospital Complex? 👀

The Ellis Island Hard Hat Tour takes you behind the scenes into areas that have been closed to the public for decades. You’ll walk through historic hospital buildings, see spaces where immigrants were treated, and learn about the medical inspections that were such an important part of the immigration process.

So you want to visit the Statue of Liberty’s Crown, which means you need to plan ahead! New ticket drop October 1, make sure you visit statuecitycruises.com and sn**ch your tickets up before they are gone.

Want to go INSIDE the crown of the Statue of Liberty? 👑

Yes, you can climb all the way up into Lady Liberty’s crown—but Statue of Liberty Crown tickets are limited and often sell out well in advance!

Here’s what you need to know 👇

🗽 Book through Statue City Cruises — the official ferry concessioner for the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

🎟️ Reserve early! Crown tickets are much more limited than general admission and can sell out months ahead, especially during peak NYC travel seasons.

📅 Choose the Crown Reserve option when booking. You’ll need to specifically select a ticket that includes Crown access—having a General Admission Statue of Liberty ticket does NOT automatically get you into the crown.

👟 Be ready for the climb! Getting to the crown means climbing 162 narrow, spiral steps from the statue’s pedestal to the crown. There’s no elevator to the crown!

📸 And yes—the views from those tiny crown windows are an unforgettable NYC experience!

Due to hazardous wind and coastal flooding conditions, Liberty Island and Ellis Island will be closed on Saturday, September 26th. Statue City Cruises will not operate ferry service from Battery Park, NY or Liberty State Park, NJ.

Ticket holders for Saturday September 26, 2026, can either reschedule or cancel orders by accessing the Manage My Booking self-service section of the Statue City Cruises website.

Ferry service on Sunday, September 27, will begin at 10 AM due to weather conditions. Guests with ticket times before 10 AM may arrive at any time after service begins, and their tickets will be honored throughout the day.

Operations will resume as normal on Monday, September 28th.
