As part of our 20th anniversary celebrations, our Bangkok and Tokyo teams ventured into the mountains to explore a quieter side of the province, following trails through some of its most striking landscapes.

There was time, too, to raise a glass to 20 years of Remote Lands — surrounded by mountains, far from the office, and exactly where we wanted to be.

To celebrate 20 years of Remote Lands, our Bangkok and Tokyo teams came together in Sichuan for a journey through Chengdu and the mountains beyond.

Our first stop was a city with much more to discover than its most famous residents. Beyond the giant pandas, Chengdu is shaped by centuries of culture, Taoist traditions and a distinctly unhurried rhythm of life.

From temples and gardens to traditional music and performance, our time in Chengdu was an opportunity to experience the places and traditions we share with our travelers — and to spend time exploring together, away from the everyday pace of the office.

In Georgia, the table is rarely just somewhere to eat.

In Kakheti, the country’s principal w**e region, vineyards spread across the valleys beneath the Caucasus, while w**emaking remains closely tied to traditions that stretch back thousands of years. Grapes are still fermented in qvevri, the large clay vessels buried beneath the ground that remain central to Georgian w**e culture.

Food is similarly rooted in place and tradition. Khinkali dumplings are folded by hand, bread is baked against the walls of a tone oven, and meals bring together a succession of dishes, and local w**e.

For our team, getting to know Georgia meant spending time in its vineyards, cellars and kitchens.
