Étude Arts joins the global opera family in celebration of the life of Speight Jenkins.

While we have learned today of Speight’s passing, there is no doubt that his impact upon Seattle Opera, creatives throughout the world, artistic administrators, and artist managers stands without peer. Speight Jenkins was transformative for the art form, he was a champion for the voices who deserved their rightful place on his stage, he was a mentor, and even for someone as busy and as involved (by choice) as he was, he always had time to converse, to learn, to banter, and - perhaps most notably - to be authentic.

Our world is smaller today without Speight Jenkins and, yet, greater because of Speight and because of his unbridled passion for Opera and the communities the art form has reached and will continue to touch for generations.
