Now on view as part of A CITY OF CREATORS!

LEARNING IN MOTION by Monifa Kincaid
📍 873 Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Blvd.

This citywide initiative transforms more than 20 vacant storefronts into an immersive arts corridor featuring work by 25 local artists and organizations. Through window-based installations, A CITY OF CREATORS connects artists, small businesses, and neighborhood stories, reimagining vacant retail spaces as sites of creativity, visibility, and opportunity.

🩰 Monifa Kincaid (Monifa Kincaid) is a visual artist, creative strategist, and community builder whose work is rooted in the language of dance and in the belief that creativity connects, heals, and builds community. Drawing from a lifelong career in movement, her digital artwork captures the body in motion and the spirit it carries. Her community project Newark Dances supported local choreographers through partnerships with Newark Arts, Project for Empty Space, and NJPAC.

💃🏽 LEARNING IN MOTION explores how Newark learning happens through movement, creativity, and community. Schools, dance studios, daycares, bicycle shops, and family spaces extend education beyond the classroom. Through imagery of books, bicycles, dance, play, and movement, the installation celebrates how knowledge, creativity, and cultural traditions are shared across generations.

Summer is not over yet — but the clock is ticking. 🌳☀️

Newark has some of the most beautiful outdoor spaces you are probably walking past every day without stopping to actually enjoy them. And with fall right around the corner, now is the time to finally get outside and take it all in before the season changes.

We pulled together the top 5 parks in Newark that you need to visit before summer ends — and every single one of them hits different when the sun is out and the weather is still warm. 🏙️❤️

Swipe through and pick your spot 👉🏾

📍 Branch Brook Park — 115 Clifton Ave, Newark NJ 07104 America’s oldest county park and home to the largest cherry blossom collection in the country. Late summer evenings here are something you have to experience for yourself.

📍 Riverfront Park — 1 Somme Street, Newark NJ 07105 Passaic River views, a stunning walkway, and the Newark skyline as your backdrop. This one is for the walkers, the runners, and the ones who just need a moment to breathe.

📍 Nat Turner Park — Muhammed Ali Ave & 18th Ave, Newark, NJ A neighborhood park with deep roots in the community. A great spot to unwind, get some fresh air, and connect with the people around you before the season winds down.

📍 Ivy Hill Park — Mt. Vernon Pl & Seton Hall University Hall, Newark, NJ Tucked into one of Newark’s most beloved neighborhoods, Ivy Hill Park is the kind of place locals know and love but visitors always overlook. Wide open space, great for families, and the perfect late summer afternoon spot.
