Have You Met Newark Tours

Think of it as a friendly introduction. Photos. Tours. Sharing. Friends. Stories. Have You Met Newark? LLC was founded in 2012 by Emily Manz and Antonio Valla.

Both planners and residents of Newark, each has a deep love for the city’s history, present, and future and bring insights and fun to their tour. Manz, a 2010 grad of the University of Delaware, and a 2011 MA grad of Central European University, moved to NJ for her MA in City & Regional Planning at Rutgers in 2011. Moving to Newark in 2012 to work in economic development, she works in consulting.

Valla, a 2005 BA graduate of Dartmouth, and a 2008 MA graduate of Harvard Graduate School of Design, moved to Newark in 2012 to work in real estate and development. Both serve on a variety of boards in Newark.

This June, explore Newark one bite at a time with Taste of Newark, culinary journeys through some of Newark’s most vibrant neighborhoods led by local experts from Have You Met Newark.

Each event pairs local food samples and small business stories with neighborhood history and public art — all on a 90-minute walking tour. 👣

Thanks to partnership with we are offering walking tours 👣of the overall Makerhoods project itself, the interior of the historic Krueger-Scott Mansion, plus a neighborhood walk.

The tour cost is $5 and includes a $5 snack break (so free!).

We had a great time last summer and happy to be back again for more! ☀️

We had an amazing Ironbound food tour today with amazing repeat tour client Essex County Vocational Technical students. We met the owners and sampled various dishes and pastries at and and ended with delicious food at . Thanks to the business owners and servers who provided such a great service to our group and this crew of amazing students and teachers!

Explore Newark’s delicious Ironbound neighborhood on Sunday, May 17th with a local resident, urban planner, and foodie! Tour includes 4 scrumptious stops at unique neighborhood eateries.

Our tour will focus on the food and flavors of this true melting pot neighborhood and explore the waves of immigration that have made and continue to make the Ironbound a dining destination. This experience is rated 5-stars on TripAdvisor.

This special experience is presented on Sunday, May 17 in connection with SAVOR Newark 2026: The Culinary Cup — Together at the Table Symposium, Newark’s official kickoff event for the city’s World Cup celebrations on Saturday, May 16.

SAVOR Newark brings together chefs, food innovators, entrepreneurs, students, and cultural tastemakers for a day celebrating global flavors, culinary storytelling, and the future of food. The event highlights Newark’s incredible culinary diversity and the immigrant communities that shape the city’s vibrant dining scene.
Guests will enjoy TED-style talks, curated tastings, and live culinary demonstrations from internationally acclaimed Brazilian chef Nelson Soares, chef of Sult in Rio de Janeiro—a restaurant recognized with a Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand, featured on the 50 Best Discovery list, and highlighted by the Louis Vuitton City Guide.

We had so much fun on our 1st ever Coffee Tour in the Lower Broadway neighborhood! The group was a crew of true coffee lovers and they were treated to incredible coffee and pastries at , a tour and coffee cupping at and Haitian patties and hot chocolate at !
