Have You Met Newark Tours

Have You Met Newark Tours Think of it as a friendly introduction. Photos. Tours. Sharing. Friends. Stories. Have You Met Newark? LLC was founded in 2012 by Emily Manz and Antonio Valla.

Both planners and residents of Newark, each has a deep love for the city’s history, present, and future and bring insights and fun to their tour. Manz, a 2010 grad of the University of Delaware, and a 2011 MA grad of Central European University, moved to NJ for her MA in City & Regional Planning at Rutgers in 2011. Moving to Newark in 2012 to work in economic development, she works in consulting.

Valla, a 2005 BA graduate of Dartmouth, and a 2008 MA graduate of Harvard Graduate School of Design, moved to Newark in 2012 to work in real estate and development. Both serve on a variety of boards in Newark.

It was beautiful to see the world come together at the show today and share their unique cultures with each other. attended for the first time at the invitation of an awesome new Newarker who represents tourism here in the US. We ran into friends like and just enjoyed hearing what makes places as distant as Pakistan and near as the Skylands so special from the folks that love them!

We had such an incredible group for our walking tour this past Saturday! We visited local fashion design designers, including , and ended at the Style Loft for the J’Adore Newark Launch by . If you have holiday shopping left for the fashion forward in your life, you can’t go wrong at these beautiful local shops!

We had an incredible tour exploring the life and works of Newark author Philip Roth on our recent Philip Roth Newark tour. Thanks to our tour guide and Roth expert for connecting with attendees which included French filmmakers.

Attendees started tour with quick nosh at before heading South. Tour participants were able to tour one of the largest most active Synogague’s of Roth’s time, B’nai Jeshurun, visit High School, see Philip Roth’s house, visit the Philip Roth Reading Room, see locations in Newark that inspired characters and places in the books, and stand at the I-78 overpass which decimated parts of the Weequahic neighborhood Roth grew up in and described in his book.

We had such a special food tour with an amazing team at Prudential. We visited Kebab House, Downtown Caribbean Eats, Hobbys Deli, and Black Swan Espresso. We were very full with delicious food!
