We help a lot of frazzled parents who realized their child’s passport was expired at the last-minute before a trip. Consider this a friendly reminder that kids’ passports are only valid for 5 years (not 10) and those years FLY by! Check the expiration date(s) and set a reminder in your phone for when to renew.

Starting May 7, 2025, the federal REAL ID requirement goes into effect for domestic air travel.

Travelers 18+ will need a REAL ID-compliant license (look for the star) or another TSA-approved ID – like a passport or military ID – to fly within the US.
