Want to spend your summer exploring the North Cascades? We are hiring part-time guides and shuttle drivers out of Mount Vernon and Winthrop for Summer 2026!

If you’re passionate about the outdoors, connecting people to place, and providing an authentic, warm welcome to guests from around the world, we’d love to hear from you!

Today’s adventure: Park Butte Lookout! Winter continued to make herself known with some nice snow flurries upon arrival at the lookout. Thanks to the for maintaining this lookout! Before heading out, had the privilege of watching volunteers board up the windows for the winter as well as some other pre-winter repairs.

We are so excited to kick off our pilot season for our Highway 20 Hiker Shuttle. To help us build awareness of our shuttle service and continue to fine tune our route and logistics, we are offering a 40% discount for all shuttles for our first month of service in July! Everyone is welcome at Hike Cascades and we hope to assist every type of hiker that visits the area. If you’re an avid backpacker, we hope our shuttle makes your logistics easier. And if you’re completely new to the outdoors, we hope that our sightseeing tour inspires a new, deeper connection to the natural world.

We hope to inspire our guests to learn the importance to Leave No Trace, Recreate Responsibly, and keep our fragile wilderness areas wild and beautiful.

Finally, we look forward to learning more about how we can welcome visitors to the North Cascades, while providing critical services in making hiking easier for both locals and visitors alike.

Meet the guide behind the wheel of our tours and shuttles! And also behind the lens of many of the photos on this page and our website. Introducing Lead Guide and Program Manager, Sean!

In 2018, Sean began his guiding career in Washington, leading trips to Mount Rainier, Olympic, North Cascades, San Juan Islands, Mt. St. Helens, and many other areas of this beautiful state. He believes guiding can be a powerful tool to spark change and has been committed to the industry by developing guide trainings and backpacking programs.

During the winter season, Sean pursues his other passion of wilderness medicine. Since 2020 Sean has been serving his community as an EMT-B/Firefighter and has also been teaching wilderness medicine courses since 2022.

Whether you’re visiting North Cascades for the first time or simply wanting to learn more about your backyard, our Naturalist Guided Hiking Tours of North Cascades National Park are a must do! In our pilot season of 2024, we will focus on providing fully customizable private tours, which allows you to build the day trip itinerary of your choice! We can also provide roundtrip transportation from Mount Vernon, Bellingham, or along Highway 20 to make life that much easier. Whether you want to see as many of the top destinations as possible or pick your bucket list day hike with a local guide, we’re here to help!

Whether you’re backpacking the PCT, day hiking the Heather-Maple Pass Loop, or simply wanting to sightsee at Washington Pass and Diablo Lake, our Highway 20 “hop-on, hop-off” hiker shuttle is the perfect way to experience the best of North Cascades without a vehicle or having to worry about crowded trailhead parking lots!

Departing from the Chuckanut Park and Ride near I-5 in Burlington at 8:00am and returning around 6:00pm, our 10 passenger capacity shuttle van will service the following trailheads and stops!

Rainy Pass (10:10am / 3:20pm)
Bridge Creek (10:15am / 3:15pm)
Blue Lake (10:20am / 3:10pm)

We are the “ski lift on wheels” for backpackers in the North Cascades. Starting on July 13, you can book the Highway 20 Hiker Shuttle ($95 per hiker) for service on Saturdays and Sundays. Otherwise, we can assist with custom shuttles upon request 7 days per week starting at $400 for up to 10 hikers.

In addition to creating easier access for day hiking and through-hiking, we hope that this helps alleviate trailhead congestion for those most popular trailheads along Highway 20 in Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest.
