GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN REOPENS WEDNESDAY
Grandfather Mountain will reopen to guests on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 9 a.m. From there, we will be open seven days a week, weather permitting, with park entry being from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., trails closing at 5 p.m. and the park closing at 6 p.m.
As always, booking tickets and a reservation time online in advance is highly recommended. In this first phase of reopening, we will sell a limited number of tickets.
In addition to the Wilson Center for Nature Discovery, Mildred the Bear Environmental Habitats, Top Shop and Mile High Swinging Bridge, access to the Woods Walk, Bridge Trail, Black Rock Trail and Grandfather Loop will be open.
When Grandfather reopens on Wednesday, the mountain’s education and habitat staff will also resume their daily programs scheduled through Nov. 3. Additionally, the park will hold its Beary Scary Halloween event slated for this Saturday, Oct. 26.
We created a list of tips for visiting the mountain and the surrounding region thoughtfully in the wake of Helene so guests can support open areas and allow closed areas to continue healing. To see those tips, please visit grandfather.com/thoughtful-travel.
