Visiting Newport until Monday, docked at Fishermen’s pier, aka “Louis L. Jagschitz State Pier No. 9”

The USCGC EAGLE is a 295-foot, three-masted barque used as a training vessel for future officers of the United States Coast Guard. Known as “America’s Tall Ship,” the majestic EAGLE is the largest tall ship flying the Stars and Stripes and the only active square-rigger in U.S. government service.

History of EAGLE
Built at the Blohm+Voss Shipyard in Hamburg, Germany in 1936, and commissioned as Horst Wessel, EAGLE was one of three sail-training ships operated by the pre-World War II German navy. At the close of the war, the ship was taken as a war reparation by the U.S., re-commissioned as the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter EAGLE and sailed to New London, Connecticut, which has been her permanent homeport ever since.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful 4th as the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026. I have been so impressed with the local small town celebrations of our country’s 250 years of democracy and independence. At the end of the day we all have much more in common than what separates us.

We welcomed our second charter guest this past Saturday from down south, this time Philadelphia, PA
You all may know him as Ricky Graham, aka Neil but on this day he was the “King of Newport” accompanied by the lovely Melissa and her children via Boston and Providence, RI
A cocktail cruise of Newport Harbor, Castle Hill and attractions. Looking forward to welcoming all back to Newport in the near future.
