A Berrien County bridge has been closed indefinitely due to storm damage caused by a falling tree. The emergency closure, established by the Berrien County Road Commission, will continue until further notice according to authorities.

The Olive Brand Road bridge, southwest of Dayton Lake, was damaged when a falling tree punctured a hole in the bridge deck and damaged a support beam as well. The bridge, located on Olive Branch Road west of Dayton Road and east of Andrews Road, will remain closed until further notice according to Michael Juengling at the Berrien County Road Commission office on E. Napier Avenue in Benton Harbor.

Detour signage will be placed as soon as weather permits, according to Juengling who pinpoints the bridge as being right on the Galien/Bertrand Township line.

The proposed detour will traverse Andrews, Buffalo and Dayton Roads to skirt the bridge outage until the bridge deck can be stabilized and repairs are made.
