This week proved to be a successful week for my client from Canada, who achieved the milestones of harvesting her first turkey and her first Maine tom. On the first day, we encountered challenging weather conditions with heavy rain, and although we detected a few birds on the roost, they fell silent at daylight. Subsequently, we exited the blind to stretch and scout nearby fields, spotting a notable tom that unfortunately remained out of range. On the second day, we positioned ourselves near a large tom, but he flew down and moved away. Following this, we opted to wait in the blind, a decision that paid off when two young turkeys approached, allowing my client to harvest one. After preparing the bird for transport, we located roosted birds that evening, with several gobbling, setting high expectations for the morning. On the final day, birds were gobbling in the vicinity, and although they initially moved off to the left after flying down, a few strategic calls prompted a long-bearded tom and others to approach rapidly, giving my client an opportunity for a precise shot, resulting in a clean harvest. Video of the hunt will be uploaded later. 🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃
