πŸŽ† VENICE FIREWORKS INFO – JULY 4 πŸŽ†

One of the most anticipated shows of the summer is almost here! The City of Venice fireworks display launches around 9:15 PM on Thursday, July 4, just north of the Venice Fishing Pier at North Brohard Beach.

βœ… Rain or shine β€” but possible delays due to weather. Final launch time cutoff is 10:30 PM.
⚑ If lightning or unsafe weather persists, the show may be rescheduled to Friday, July 5.

πŸ“ Great viewing spots: Venice Beach, Nokomis Beach, North Jetty, Venice Fishing Pier or Brohard Beach
🚫 Stay clear of the Blast Zone near the launch site
🐒 Be respectful of sea turtle nests β€” don’t dig holes, leave trash behind, or block the beach overnight

🧺 Reminder: Pack out what you pack in β€” including chairs, tents, and coolers!

πŸŽ‡ The show lasts about 20–25 minutes and is hosted by with support from and - -

🚨 WEATHER ALERT FOR NOKOMIS & GULF COAST NEIGHBORS 🚨

The National Weather Service is closely monitoring a tropical disturbance in the Gulf that is expected to bring heavy rain, localized flooding, and hazardous beach conditions starting late Thursday and continuing through the weekend.

🌧️ Rainfall Outlook:
β€’ 2–5+ inches of rain expected across Sarasota County through Sunday
β€’ Flash flooding possible in low-lying or poorly drained areas
β€’ Most of the region is under a Slight to Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall Thursday–Saturday

🌊 Storm System Details:
β€’ There is a 40% chance this disturbance forms into a tropical or subtropical cyclone
β€’ Even without full development, significant rainfall and gusty winds are anticipated

πŸ“ Areas from Tampa Bay through Nokomis and south to Fort Myers should stay alert.
This is not expected to be a major storm β€” but localized flooding, poor drainage, and unsafe driving or swimming conditions are real concerns.

Here’s what you can do now:
βœ… Bring in loose outdoor items
βœ… Avoid driving through flooded streets
βœ… Keep storm drains clear near your home
βœ… Follow and for updates
βœ… Look out for your neighbors β€” especially the elderly or vulnerable

Let’s remember: storms pass β€” but how we treat each other during them is what matters most. πŸ’™

πŸŒ€ We’ll continue sharing updates here as new advisories come in.

It’s boat parade week! The annual Venice Christmas Boat Parade begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7.

🚫 Early chair set-up is prohibited until noon, Saturday, Dec. 7
🚫 The parade is NOT viewable from Circus Bridge, the South Jetty, or Nokomis Beach Park
🚫The parade concludes at the endpoint and does not make a return trip north. While boats may travel north afterward to return to their launch locations, this is not considered part of the official parade route or schedule

Here are some essential things to remember:
- The parade starts at the Albee Road Bridge and travels at a slow rate, between 3 to 5 knots
- It can take anywhere between 45 to 60 minutes for the boats to make it to the North/KMI Bridge from the parade start
- It can take anywhere between 15 to 30 minutes for the boats to make it to the W. Venice Ave Bridge from the North/KMI Bridge
- It can take anywhere between 15 to 30 minutes for boats to make it to the parade end point, which is just before Marine Max
- Best places to view from include behind Venice High School, Venetian Waterway Park, and Legacy Park

These times are estimates and are always subject to change.
