Though now it is a Bar and Grill this old building was built in 1905 and has been many different things over the 110 years. It has been Hardware Store, Funeral Accessories, Mr. Dean's Tin Smith Shop for a time, Dental Office in the loft, and became The Broadway Bar in 1933. It has survived 110 years of all types of Texas ever changing weather and lifestyles but still holds a fond place in the town
of Nordheim. Changed some but not much over all these years. The old bar back came to town in 1905 after being brought in from Germany on ships and then wagon trained into town to a Spanish Bar outside of town. It was then brought to town and put into a Confectioners Store across the street. In 1933 the story is told that it was traded for 2 cows and came in this old building and became the Broadway Bar. The whole town has memories of there grandparents playing dominoes in the bar, coming to ball games after to have a soda and parents would visit, dates, first beers when coming of age and supper club (which still goes on to this day), baby showers, wedding showers, rehearsal dinners, family reunions, birthday parties, anniversaries, and other special occasions. It is still and has always been a family friendly place. We have made a great effort to not change it and keep the memories and history in this small town. The movie Paris Texas filmed some scenes in this wonderful old bar and gave the town a claim to fame. We are small but we are full of history and wonderful stories. Do come see our place whether to have something to eat, a cold drink or listen to some good music. We are like stepping back in time with a modern flare.
