With windchill 🌬, Mt Washington's summit 🏔 was 40 degrees colder than North Conway this morning! A reminder for hikers to check summit forecasts and be prepared for drastically different conditions above treeline.

MWOBS summit staff woke up to very different conditions than those in the Mount Washington Valley this morning. Weather on the summit around 8:45 EDT this morning was foggy with a temperature of 39F, winds at 45 mph w/ gusts of 55 mph, and a wind chill of 24F. Weather as reported by the NCON3 weather station at our offices in North Conway at the same time was mostly sunny with a temperature of 66F and light and variable winds. The leftmost image is a view of the summit via the MWOBS deck cam, the center image is a view of Mount Washington via the MWOBS Wildcat cam, and the rightmost image is a view of Mount Washington from Conway via the Camnet Realtime Air Pollution and Visibility Monitoring cam. Keep in mind that conditions can change rapidly as you ascend into the White Mountains!
