Since opening our old stone building our life has not been the same! It has been a blessing to our family in so many ways. We now have a path for our "retirement " years that was not in the picture 10 years ago.
When we purchased Windy Top in 2011, we knew it was a special placed that needed to be rescued! The task was great because the property had not been occupied for 20 years. It needed EVERYTHING... and that was just the house.
When we took possession we did not have heat or hot water, a 50 year old septic system that soon failed, 4 layers of roofing, and decor that hadn't really been updated since the 60s.
Water was running through the cottage staining the knotty pine paneling and wood floors. The roof boards were rotted and need to be replaced down to the rafters. The gardens were overgrown and wisteria was everywhere.
In 2014 we joined Airbnb but we were not ready for prime time until 2017. Since then we have hosted people from every continent and met some amazing people.
God has blessed us and showed us how to use the cottage for income but also for ministry. We try to fill open nights by hosting people who are serving in the Kingdom of God.
