Keep dreaming .
🛂🇿🇦 Today, exactly one year ago, we received our passports. 🤩
At that moment, we thought we were finally getting somewhere… but little did we know, the hardest part of the waiting was still ahead of us.
It took another 8 months for my unabridged birth certificate to finally be issued. Eight more months of waiting, uncertainty, paperwork and wondering “How much longer?” 😔
And then, 10 months after receiving our passports, we finally boarded that plane. ✈️🇺🇸
I still remember that feeling… knowing that after everything, we were finally leaving. We were finally getting our chance to start over.
But this journey didn't magically become easy the moment we landed.
Starting over in a completely new country is HARD. There are still difficult days. There are still moments of frustration, uncertainty and doubt. We are still figuring things out, still learning, still building a life from the ground up.
But then I look back…
One year ago, we were still waiting for a passport.
Today, we're sitting here in America. 🇺🇸
We've crossed an ocean. ✈️
We've travelled through states we had only ever seen on a map. 🗺️
We've started building a new life.
We've chased dreams that once felt impossibly far away.
And we've kept going, even when it wasn't easy.
The road hasn't been easy… and it still isn't. But we're here. 🙏🇺🇸
Sometimes you have to look back at where you started to realize just how far you've actually come.
A year ago, we were waiting for a passport.
Today, we're living the beginning of the life we waited so long for. 🇺🇸✨
And if this journey has taught me anything, it's this:
Don't give up just because the road is taking longer than you expected. Some of the biggest dreams require the longest journeys. 🙏❤️
One year later… we're still moving forward.
Still dreaming.
Still believing.
And still incredibly grateful. 🇺🇸🗽❤️
This is only the beginning. ✨
