The Fest in the Land is a 3 Day Event for those Brats to come and gather in Cleveland - enjoy gemuetlichlkeit - old times and new memories! 3 Organized events with a German flair - River Cruise, Sommer Oktoberfest, and Prost Night out at Hofbrauhaus Cleveland will allow for German memories while Explore Cleveland during the day!

Its Thursday and yes as we all reopen ...the spirit for the Fest is renewed. A little different this year with our Aloftrtoberfest held at the Aloft Hotel vs the Big Tent Oktoberfest but it shall be the spirit of fellowship and Gemuetlichkeit.
Here's the early 2020 commitment list video - we know that some may not be able to attend - and perhaps you can post here to reaffirm and also regrets.
We will be having our own menu at the ALofttoberfest (unlimited schnizel, brats, Kartoffelsalat, Brezel, BIER (our own keg) perhaps Wein (negotiating) and naturally all the other items.

So please watch and post.

FEST IN THE LAND UPDATE!!!!!
Wir werden dabei sein!!!
This will be a special year for the FEST - No. 5 and in "unprecented times". The Fest has 3 main components - Nautica Queen Dinner Cruise on Thursday August 20th
Sommer Oktobefest Friday August 20th
Hofbrauhaus Cleveland Saturday August 21st

Current status is unknown about the Nautica Queen as the rules have not been defined yet - but I'm thinking some form of social distancing...and swim along side (ok without mask).
Hofbrauhaus says ..10 per table, masks when walking around.. so vee kann do this.
THat leaves the Sommer Oktoberfest on Friday Night that has well...over 700 people under the tent. We dont know about this...and well have to have a Plan B.

Plan B is our own Sommer Fest Dirndl/LederHosen night at the ALOFT HOTEL.
I just spoke with Bill Reed who says "we're in!" We would have live band (shhh dont tell the G- Men but most likely may change by then)
Music, Food and Gemuetlichkeit! Vee kan do this.

HOTEL RATE CHANGE - Bill will also reduce the rate for rooms for the Fest to $ 99.00 plus TAX .... a savings from the $ 139.00 rate.

So just got a message from Diane Duffy who mentioned the airfare she got for the August 20-22 Fest in the Land dates.
As we go on with being safe and all - perhaps if you are attending the Fest - or are considering - it might be the time to consider airfares to Cleveland.
Official Dates - Thursday August 20 to August 22.
Some are arriving on Wednesday August 19th. First Schnitzel at Hansa Brewery.

Well it is Thursday and always a day to remind of the Fest in the Land ...that August event of 3 days of fellowship and gemuetlichkeit. And so is today's message that despite the unusual time we are experiencing we are humbled by the fellowship that this idea amd event has created over the 5 years.

New friendships have been created while older ones have been renewed. I am reminded of that with my fun conversation with the Burgermeister Joe Novak. Just like high school. As well as friends like Michele Thearle Yousef who came through Facebook just two years ago.

Our Fest and this group shares the joys and heartaches that life brings to us all.

The days ahead bring challenges to the normal days given the impact of the virus .
I for one belief that proactive measures being taken shall help the nation get through this.

We look to better news and mornings. Let us wish the medical professionals strength to meet the challenges. Let us also stay positive that this too shall pass and hopefully with the minimal impact.

We look forward to the 5th Fest in the Land and clearly recognize that we have to remain vigilant.
So wishes for a good day. Wash your hands and stay in touch .
