The legendary Big Boy No. 4014 is coming to North Platte on May 27th and you can witness this historic steam locomotive from the best seat in town at the Golden Spike Tower & Visitor Center!

As part of Union Pacific’s America 250 Tour, the world’s largest operating steam locomotive will roll through the world’s largest classification yard for an unforgettable railroading moment.

It's almost here! Don't miss out on tons of live music at the family friendly Music on the Bricks event this weekend!

Friday May 15th the Jazzy Knights will have a special performance at 6:15pm, then Bryan Wheeler will take the stage from 7:00pm-8:00pm, and Rascal Martinez and the Band will crank it up after that until 10:30pm. Admission is only $8. Kids 12 and under are free.

Then on Saturday May 16th you can dance the night away starting with BJ Jamison at 6:00pm, The L&T Band from 7:00pm-8:00pm, and Strings Attached to round out the night from 8:00pm-midnight! Admission is $10. Kids 12 and under are free.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission Birding Bowl is underway but there is still time to join!

Join in on the birding fun! Throughout May, they're hosting the Nebraska Birding Bowl, a free, statewide birding competition for people of all ages and skill levels.

If you haven't signed up yet, there's plenty of time to participate. Sign up solo or in a team, and track your sightings now through the end of May. Come to a Nebraska Bird Month event, too, for guided hikes, crafts and additional birding fun.

Your Birding Bowl participation matters. Every bird you see contributes to bird research and helps out local birders. We'll also draw names for prizes, including Vortex binoculars and a $1,000 cash prize.

Don't miss out! May is a wonderful time for birdwatching in Nebraska, with migrating shorebirds and songbirds aplenty. Grab your binoculars and start your adventure today!
