Remember pickpockets usually work in groups of 3 and dress like tourists. The Trevi Fountain in Rome is one of the most pickpocketed sites in all of Europe.
The free gift scam is real, especially around tourist sites. They will attempt to put a bracelet on your wrist or give you a gift…all the while smiling and then aggressively demand money and make a scene if you don’t pay.
Always pay attention when traveling! Thieves are always on the lookout for distracted and jet-lagged tourists who don’t look or dress like locals.
Don’t let one of these scams ruin your trip.
