We will be closing up the cottage tomorrow for the season. Follow us or check back for updates regarding 2022 rentals.
The calendar/schedule is blocked off until we are sure it will be available (we might be selling).

Meanwhile here's a nice photo from yesterday of our.... beach? Who needs sand when you can have a beautiful private waterfront with just enough space for a couple of lounge chairs! And less sand in the shoes, too! Mother Nature Rules.

We are happy to see our guests have enjoyed their time at Wyndenrok! Here are some notes from our 2021 guest book.

Open for seasonal rentals via Visit Up North. You may send us a message or question through Facebook, too, but VUN manages the rentals at this point.

We've spent a ton of time and energy cleaning up everything, including tons of tree roots and debris due to erosion. We don't have a sandy beach anymore, nor a fire pit, nor a flagpole! But we still have an adorable, cozy cottage, with an incredible view, , wooden swing, charcoal grill & picnic table.

NO outdoor fires until we can figure out whether & where we can install a new fire pit.

Meanwhile, enjoy the view!

We have not yet determined our opening date for the season. Check back for updates or send us a msg if interested.

Obviously not a sandy beach! Perfect for those who want privacy, solitude, nature, yet walking distance to town!

Random October 2020 pics showing the beauty & the beast of nature doing her thing.
The erosion of the shoreline this past year is stunning. We’ve consulted with “the experts” and have decided to wait it out for now.

I’ve always wanted a dock but Mom doesn’t, preferring to have sand brought in to create an artificial (and somewhat temporary) beach. She thinks a dock would ruin the look.
But, having spent 19 summers in a faculty cabin on Duck Lake (Interlochen), I found out how beautiful it is to sit over the water, watching birds & boats, stargazing late at night, or just sitting in a chair reading.

What would you choose? Beach (mostly shaded on grass above the erosion) or a short dock (which would go out over the stones so you could get into the water without stepping on the rocks).

Our Story

Wyndenrok Cottage is a 1913 vintage cottage with 160 feet of frontage on Grand Traverse Bay. 2 regular bedroom & an upstairs sleeping porch that adds a 3rd sleeping room with king size bed. 1 bathroom w/shower (no bath tub), family cottage. Two story stone fireplace, piano, well furnished kitchen, comfortable beds, three screened porches. No TV but there is Wifi. Lots of books, board games, cozy seating, fantastic views, quiet & private. Grand Traverse Bay water levels are record breaking highs so the beach is mostly washed away. The fire pit is gone. We provide beach lounge chairs, wooden swing. No dock.

Our mother managed the rentals for 40 years. In 2017 mom ‘retired’ and decided to turn over the management to Visit Up North. They’ve been great to work with and helpful. You can see the listing, and make reservations, at Wyndenrok Cottage -Visit Up North Rentals

2020 Update: Due to very high lake levels the ‘beach’ is completely washed away in front of the cottage. Wyndenrok is still a lovely property with seating along the water’s edge, but without a beach. Check out the photos (link above) that need to be updated. You will see the beach, with flagpole & beach chairs. The water has come up past the flagpole & eroded the base so much that the flagpole fell into the water.

2020 Covid19 Update: Visit Up North tells us they are following CDC guidelines regarding cleaning properties. We have also asked them to include a 2 day vacancy between rentals to further ensure safety. If that is important to you, please check with them to see whether they were able to secure a 2 day vacancy prior to your dates of interest.
