Northampton Ambulance CPR Classes Sept. 20!

The Northampton Ambulance Service is offering two CPR classes on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the new Northville Firehouse on Main Street.

There will be a FREE 9:00-10:30 a.m. class that will cover basic CPR/AED, infant CPR and what to do when someone is choking. Please see the flyer at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Nb9i1h5Ls6SSK98ZDzGoc10ZE_RdR32k/view for details and a QR code to register for the class.

There will also be a CPR/AED Certification Class from 1:00-4:00 p.m. This class will cost $25.00, and participants will receive a certification card upon completion of the course. Great PSA 📣 from Northampton Volunteer Ambulance Service

Apple iPhone Crash Detection PSA

Recently, we have seen an uptick in Apple iPhone crash detection emergency calls. This feature, found on iPhone 14 and later models, utilizes various parameters built into the device to detect a potential accident.

While this technology is certain to save lives, it also creates potential "false emergencies." We have seen phones fall off of vehicles and, most recently, an emergency response was triggered because an individual innocently tossed their cell phone onto their beach towel while visiting a local beach. Once an alert is triggered, 9-1-1 is contacted and, in Northville/Northampton, 3 fire departments, 1-2 EMS agencies, and law enforcement is dispatched. We will always respond as if an accident has occurred until proven otherwise.

Use caution when handling your phone and be mindful that dropping your phone or tossing it (even on to a soft object) can create an iPhone crash detection alert. An alert will trigger an alarm on your phone and a countdown from 20 seconds will begin before 9-1-1 is called.

Remember, this software was developed to save lives and emergency services will always respond to a crash detection alert even if it is a false alarm.

We are excited to see you on Friday. We will have some new faces this season so please help us welcome them and be patient as they get trained to make you the best ice cream treats.

As always we will stay until the line is gone but we are hoping to get our new staff all trained soon so the lines are minimal 😀

There are paper copies available at the Viillage/Town offices and at various locations around the Village. The Northampton Ambulance Squad will also be distributing some during their coin drop on Saturday morning. Plenty to see and do around the Village this weekend!

New speed limit in the Village of Northville

The speed limit in the Village has been reduced to 25 mph throughout the whole Village, which includes Water Street and Gould Hill. The school zones will still remain 15 mph when school is in session.
