Hey Bernie!

So being that I had to log on once night to process my weekly payroll, I decided I'd jot down some notes to that point that the group discussed as we spent the week in the DR.

Overall, the group did enjoy themselves as did we.... but in the end we agreed we all MUCH preferred Mexico to the Dominican.
This was definitely different ... we had a great hotel last year in Mexico with a large group as well and I guess when comparing them, Mexico definitely came out on top.

I don't think we want to try the DR again. Here are my notes ...

Barcelo Palace Deluxe – (Bavaro) Dominican Republic
· Pools not heated - they were not as cold as Paradisus but they were def not heated.

· Rooms not that clean – some days not even trash was removed nor did they sweep!

· No free room service…? - this was new to us. In Mexico we had 24/7 room service available at no cost

· The nightly shows were really not great with the exception of 1 night out of the 7 we were there

· No free WiFi ?? (was costly per device, per day, per person) - last year I processed my payroll right in the room with no problem for NO cost

· Horrible wine(s) as their house choice (it literally was fizzy) - we spent at least $500 in wine for a few of the nights that wine was best to have with dinner instead of the bar service

· Super Small room (1 bathroom for “family”??) - for a family of 5 and even 6 as one of the groups, it was way too small Our son's cot was in OUR room - we ended up moving it to the other room which we made work but again not a suite or "deluxe" family room at all

· There was a fee for everything! - Literally everything! Kids wanted to play golf, or driving range, or basketball court or the fields and paddle courts and it was a cost

· They don’t accept cash in most of the hotel had to “charge to the room” or credit card

· You had to lug all the pool towels with you every day to/from the room to the pool – you could only exchange them couldn’t just get towels at the pool

· Lunch option was ONLY buffet.

The weather there was crazy - now I know it's uncontrollable but it rained every single day and at time it was
a 5 min shower but we were ducking rain daily... super high winds. The staff said it was like that through
May?

The food was not in any way the quality of last year. The Buffett was the only lunch option. No coffee shop.

Well that's it in a nut shell! I know it may sound knit picky but I just wanted to point out all the things that we
noticed and discussed during the week. Like I said they did enjoy themselves.... but we much rather Mexico! If/when something like or
even the Paradisus we stayed at Playa del Carmen pops up for next February break, that was by far our favorite resort and area.
In the DR we didn't feel like we could/should leave the resort and that was unlike last year as we went into town a few nights for a
change of scenery.
