A trip can look like an amazing deal until the “little extras” start stacking up.

Before you book, take 2 minutes to total the real cost:
- Flights & baggage fees
- Transfers/transportation (airport to hotel, rental car, parking)
- Resort fees + taxes
- Food & drinks (if not included)
- Excursions/activities
- Travel protection (highly recommended for many trips)
- Tips/gratuities
- Location costs (are you paying more to get where you actually want to be?)

Sometimes the “cheaper” option ends up costing more — or just feels less enjoyable because everything is an add-on.

Not all port days are created equal — and timing matters more than most people realize.

Before you book excursions or make big plans, check:
- Arrival + departure times (some ports are short stops)
- All-aboard time vs sail-away time (they’re not always the same)
- Ship time vs local time (this can trip people up)
- Distance to what you want to do (and realistic transit time)
- Buffer time for traffic, lines, and “getting back through security”

Confession: I do not tolerate heat well. ☀️😅

But… my family loves visiting the amusement parks in Florida—so we’ve learned how to make it work (and still have an amazing time).

For me, it all comes down to preparation:
✔️ Portable fans & cooling towels
✔️ Hat + sunglasses
✔️ Electrolytes (Liquid IV is a must)
✔️ Sunscreen (always!)
✔️ Strategic breaks in the AC

And yes… I absolutely know where to find all the frozen drinks and slushies in the parks. ❄️😉
