Polaris finds more ponies for the Rzr XP 1000 2/4 seater.
MEDINA, MN- (July 1, 2014) Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE: PII), the leading manufacturer of off-road vehicles, today announced the Model Year 2015 RZR XP® 1000 and RZR XP® 4 1000 will feature a higher output 110 horsepower to dominate the dunes, desert, trails, race track or anything that stands in their way.
Introduced for Model Year 2014, the RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 brought significant innovations to each of the hallmark Power, Suspension and Agility aspects of RZR while adding a new level of interior comfort and accessory customization. The vehicles were built for the pinnacle of performance with an all-new Polaris ProStar® 1000 engine that provided an industry-leading 107 horsepower with a true 999cc of displacement, making it the most powerful and largest engine in its class. For 2015, Polaris ups the ante again by giving the class-leading vehicles an incremental power upgrade to keep RZR at the top of its game.
“As always, RZR has been the leader of recreational side-by-sides due to their ultimate combination of power, suspension and agility,” said Craig Scanlon, general manager of Polaris Side-by-Side Vehicles. “Even though we just launched the RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 last year, we’re always looking to improve upon every aspect of our vehicles’ performance.”
To achieve 110 horsepower, the 2015 RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 feature a new calibration with high-output cams, stiffer valve springs and a higher compression ratio of 11:1. The upgraded horsepower further increases the RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 dominance in power with nine-percent more power than anything else in their classes. A revised exhaust system, incorporating closed loop control and catalyst technology, enables the ProStar 1000 to not simply add power, but also be cleaner and more efficient. To handle the increased power, the 2015 RZR XP 1000 and XP 4 1000 feature new direct flow intake covers, new belt and a new clutch cover with more ducting providing two times more airflow directly to the clutches.

The RZR XP 1000 will be available in Havasu Red Pearl, Voodoo Blue and White Lightning, and the RZR XP 4 1000 in Havasu Red Pearl and Voodoo Blue. All units feature standard Electronic Power Steering (EPS) and will be available in dealerships starting in July.

KAWASAKI gets the podium at King of the Hammers

KAWASAKI TERYX® EXCELS AT KING OF THE HAMMERS

Brothers Casey and Cody Currie battle “The Toughest One-Day Off-Road Race in the World” to put Kawasaki on the Podium

IRVINE, Calif. (February 12, 2014) – It’s one thing to enter what has been called “the toughest one-day off-road race in the world,” it’s another entirely to finish on the podium in that competition. Lined up against a field of heavily modified Side-by-Sides, Kawasaki’s Casey Currie relied on the power of his Teryx4™ stock 750-class engine to finish third in the 2014 King of the Hammers (KOH) UTV Pro Class race this past week in Johnson Valley, Calif., beating many 1000cc ‘race-ready’ machines.
Perhaps what is most impressive is the fact that Currie, with a factory-spec 749cc V-twin powering his Kawasaki Teryx4, beat out 23 challengers in the fully-modified Side by Side class, many of which boasted significantly higher displacement.
“Casey’s results are a testament to the Teryx4’s capabilities. In a race as demanding as KOH, when you choose a vehicle that is built to the highest standards of quality, durability and performance right off of the showroom floor, heavy aftermarket improvements aren’t always necessary,” said Kevin Allen, public relations manager, Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. “The fact that the Teryx4’s OEM motor can use its amazing torque and mid-range to compete head-on with the competition’s modified engines speaks to Kawasaki’s commitment to engineer the best off-highway vehicles, not just ones that focus mainly on displacement figures.”
While Casey took the Teryx4 to the number three spot in the Pro Class, his brother Cody Currie drove his 2014 Teryx® to second in the UTV Production 850 Sportsman Class. The new Teryx excelled throughout the King of the Hammers’ course that featured highly technical rock-crawling sections intermixed between sections of high-speed desert terrain.
The 2014 Teryx finished on the podium due to the strength of its 783cc motor which offers 26% more power and 12% more torque in the low- to mid-range over previous models, coupled to a smooth Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and centrifugal clutch. The 2014 model also features a larger double-X frame chassis for optimal handling and premium FOX Podium high-performance shocks.
The Teryx’s durability was put to the test at the King of the Hammers not only during the UTV races, but throughout the week as the event organizer, Ultra4, relied on the Kawasaki’s to patrol and clean up the course during the seven-day competition.

The King of the Hammers (KOH) is known as the toughest off-road race in the world, and last year’s 115-mile course was known as the most-difficult course ever. So much so that Race Organizer, Dave Cole, kept the same course that only three UTVs, all being RZRs, finished last year. Polaris Factory Racers Mitch Guthrie and his co-driver Mitch Guthrie Jr., who has won four KOH races and took second once, would line up in their Holz Racing RZR XP 1000, and Jon Crowley and Blake Van de Loo, in their Jagged X-supported RZR XP 1000. When the dust settled, Guthrie would take his fifth King of the Hammers Pro Class win proving nobody beats “The King.”

Twenty-Six UTVs took the line on Wednesday morning to try to conquer The Hammer. Branden Sims, in his RZR, would take the early lead with the rest of the field in hot pursuit. By the end of lap 1, Guthrie would have the lead but would lose it due to a steering issue that needed repair. Guthrie’s racing prowess and ability to tame the nasty rock sections of the race saw him, once again, come away the Pro Class winner with Sims following in second. Crowley and Van de Loo, impaired by a radiator problem that cost them valuable time, would also finish the race. John Duckworth, also in a RZR, would take the Sportsman Class.

02/06/2014

Congratulations to Jon Duckworth for pulling off a win in sportsman class. He was the first car to the finish and against all odds.
His car was a total 5weeks ago. He rebuilt it on his own with a new frame with great results. He WON!! Such a great KOH story.

Xtremeplus’ W***y Alcaraz Wins Third Dakar in POLARIS RZR 900

Minneapolis, Jan. 20, 2014–Xtremplus’ Will Alcaraz is no stranger to the Dakar podium and this past Saturday, he graced it for the third time winning the prestigious and challenging race in his RZR 900. Xtremeplus would bring four RZR teams to Dakar with two finishing in first and second.

The last special stage of the Dakar 2014 was located in the hilly roads of Canela, surrounded by cacti on slippery tracks due to the morning rain. All drivers were required to stay focused to avoid any mistakes before the checkered flag announced the race was over. W***y Alcaraz, famed for taking on Dakar on his own, would, once again, cross the line alone and in front in his No. 350 RZR 900, with Xtremeplus’ Nicolas Duclos and Sebastian Delaunay taking second.

“It was the same special we had last year here, and also brittle,” said Alcaraz with tears in his eyes. “There were dried rivers with big stones; I thought I could never get out of there. To be focused all the way was mandatory because it was very easy to slip away from the track, and I saw some traces of cars that went out. Today, it was required to show driving skills and not just to let go.”

Xtremeplus’ Duclos and Delaunay in their No. 364 RZR 900 would take a noble second-place finish in an incredibly challenging race.

“These last kilometers were beautiful,” said Duclos at the arrival to Illapel. “In the middle of the cacti, the road was slippery at some points so you had to be very careful not to make a mistake. This morning, I had some pressure because we had to make it to the finish line without taking any risks, but at the same time, do our best. I can´t believe we are here. Compared to 2013, this was a lot harder at a physical level, but we did well and we took our place. Sebastien has done an excellent job, as usual. We didn’t make any mistakes in almost 900 km of the race, and we kept our pace through all stages. This should keep on going, the Dakar is so great!”

JAGGED X Wins again!!

Jagged X Wins Best in the Desert’s Parker 250
UXC Racing’s Scrambler XP 1000 debut brings second place finish

Minneapolis, Jan. 15, 2014– Polaris RZRs kicked off the Best in the Desert race season with a win at the THR Parker 250, in Parker, Ariz. 2013 Best in the Desert UTV Champions, Jagged X and the No. 1919 RZR XP 4 900, with Jagged X’s Brandon Schueler and Blake Van de Loo would take the checkered flag, and Coastal Racing’s No. 1934, with Scott Kiger and Mark Holz, taking second.

The inaugural race of the year for BITD saw the largest UTV entry yet with 33 side-by-sides entered. Schueler and Van de Loo would start in thirteenth position. Thanks to some great driving and a trouble-free day, they were able to work their way to the front and pass the No. 1934 Coastal car for the win.

Team UXC Racing’s Michael Swift and Don Higbee would make the inaugural run of the Scrambler XP 1000 at the Parker 250 and come home with a second place competing as the only utility quad in the Expert Class. The win was impressive given the unit was mostly stock except the wheels, tires and Flexx bars and ran with an axillary gas tank to minimize fuel ups.

The next Best in the Desert Race is the General Tire Mint 400, March 13-16, in Las Vegas, NV.

COASTAL RACING Takes Baja 1000
Jagged X takes second and wins first-ever UTV Pro Class SCORE Championship

Minneapolis, Nov. 20, 2013-The Baja 1000 is a true test of a machine and driver and Polaris sent three race teams to the line to conquer the epic race. It would be a true test of the RZRs ability and durability, and, in the end, Coastal Racing, Jagged X and Cognito Racing would be three of the five in the UTV Pro Class to finish the grueling race.

Coastal Racing would take on their first-ever Baja 1000 with drivers Scott Kiger, Mark Holz and RJ Anderson; and co-drivers Rob Utendorfer, Tyler King and Brian McLean. The Coastal Racing No. 1934 RZR would be the first in the UTV Pro Class to cross the finish line. The race would take Coastal Racing 27 hours and almost 17 minutes to complete.

Jagged X’s Matt Parks is no stranger to the Baja 1000 and he would pilot the No. 1932 RZR with WORCS 2013 UTV Champion Beau Baron and Alan Kleinemas. Co-drivers were Jason Spiess, Eric Anderson and Keith Redstrom. Jagged X, with wins in the Baja 250 and 500 under their belt, would take second to Coastal, by about 24 minutes, and seal the first-ever UTV Pro Class Championship continuing RZR’s dominance in racing.

Another team competing for the first time was Cognito Racing. Drivers Justin Lambert, Ryan Piplic, Victor Hererra, Justin Sheakley with co-drivers Jeremiah Staggs, Jim Neasbitt and Casey Fillippi would pilot the No. 1908 RZR to a fifth place finish and make their inaugural run one to remember.

“Competing in the Baja 1000 is a huge undertaking and Polaris would like to congratulate all the Polaris teams for their successes in the race,” said Donna Beadle, race team manager for Polaris. “Being this was the first year of the Pro UTV class in SCORE, it was nice to see the UTVs show up and represent, and even nicer to see a Polaris Racing Team take home the first-ever title.”
