What a morning find ❤️🥰

Each one was just barely peeking out of the water and in different areas along my walk. For each one, I watched the waves, patiently waited and timed it so I got in, pulled/dug it and got out before getting hit by a wave. At 28 degrees, I really didn’t want to get wet! I was successful for all 3 and quite happy about it. Then, I lined them up along the edge of the tide line to take some photos and BAM! A rogue wave came outta nowhere and got me. Ugh!!! 😱🥶🤣 Soooo grateful that I drove to the beach this morning and wasn’t far from my car when it happened. Time for a long hot shower!

The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center receives an annual allocation of approximately $100,000 from this program, which directly benefits the conservation of sea turtles. If you are a North Carolina resident and a licensed driver, we encourage you to consider selecting the Save the Sea Turtles license plate when renewing your registration this year. Showcase your commitment to sea turtle conservation! .

The conservation efforts for protected sea turtles at and on Topsail Island are authorized by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, ES Permit 25ST05.

There are still turtle nests at Oak Island. It is such a wonderful experience to watch the baby turtles hatch and head back out to the sea 🐢💚

"Little's" first sunrise. One tiny hatchling climbed up from its nest this morning just in time to enjoy the beautiful sunrise! A young girl who was watching, named her Little. We cheered and cheered for Little but she was just so tired. She was going round and round in circles and each time she went into the water she would be washed back on shore. The volunteers from Oak Island Sea Turtle Protection Program ended up bringing her with them to let her rest and gain some strength. Let's send Little some love! 💖✨🐢

Oak Island has the best sea turtle population 🐢💚

HAPPY WORLD SEA TURTLE DAY!
Historically, we have mostly Loggerhead Sea Turtles on Caswell Beach, but we have also had several Kemp's Ridley's, 1 Leatherback Sea Turtle and 1 Green Sea Turtle. We can't wait to see who shows up this year!
