For families unable to attend in person, 5 More Minutes Charters offers an Unattended Memorial at Sea service handled with care and respect. Captain Darren and crew will respectfully release the ashes 3 miles offshore near Oak Island, followed by the placement of flowers on the water.

Families receive photos, a video of the service, and the coordinates of the ash scattering location. We can also coordinate local pickup of ashes or assist with mailing arrangements.

One of the best parts of being out on the water is never knowing exactly what you’re going to see. Lately we’ve spotted bald eagles perched high and watching the shoreline, pelicans diving with perfect timing, and all kinds of coastal birds going about their day. It’s peaceful, it’s natural, and it’s something you just don’t experience the same way from land.

We’ve added something new for our guests.

We now have custom magnets for 5 More Minutes Charters—one for our boat tours and one for our water taxi.

If you’re joining us out on the water and would like one, just let us know—we’re happy to share them with our homeowners and guests. It’s a simple keepsake to remember your time with us.

These were created by ABCD Designs , a small NC business doing custom work—and they made the whole process easy from start to finish. We were able to customize the size, color, and design to fit exactly what we wanted.

They also offer custom 3D creations and one-of-a-kind pieces, so if you have an idea in mind, they can bring it to life. Even though they’re not local to us, everything was shipped quickly and turned out just how we hoped.
