I’m certain there was some drama that led to this tiny car being placed above the elevator exit door! I’m guessing it was some child’s favorite car all week, and as they said goodbye to Oak Island, they didn’t want to say goodbye to the car.

The water is very calm, the tide is very low and the beach is not yet crowded this morning. It is Friday, so I expect things will look different by this afternoon! We will be turning our home and our favorite place over to our summer guests starting next week. See you again in the fall, Oak Island!

First turtle nest of 2024 in NC is on Oak Island this year. Thanks to our great turtle protection program for keeping it safe. Expect some hatchlings by early July!

Did we tell you we renovated The Guest Quarters in 2023? New floors throughout (no more carpet in the bedrooms), new kitchen cabinets, lighting, counters, stove and sink, and the Middle bathroom got a complete makeover with a tiled shower! We also added a couple of windows and moved a door, adding more room to the living room and more light to the dining area. Two of our favorite organizations on Oak Island, our neighbor Sea Biscuit Wildlife Shelter and Oak Island Water Rescue, collaborate to care for our wildlife. Thanks to the good people who step up to help when needed.
