☀️ Tucked away along the Stanislaus River, Horseshoe Park is one of Oakdale’s best-kept secrets for beating the summer heat.
Part of the beautiful river recreation areas just off Orange Blossom Road, this local gem is a shady oasis of cool breezes and calm waters. It is famously known as a favorite stop for rafters floating down from Knights Ferry, but it is also the perfect spot for a quick, breezy day trip.
Here is why it is the ultimate summer hangout:
🌳 Deep Shade: The massive canopy of Valley oaks and Fremont cottonwoods acts like natural AC, keeping the picnic areas cool even on July afternoons.
💦 Easy River Access: With gradual, gentle slopes into the water, it is a fantastic spot to wade in and dip your toes in the river shallows.
🚗 Stress-Free Parking: Unlike other river spots that pack out fast on the weekends, Horseshoe boasts plenty of easy-access parking, making it a breeze to load up the picnic wagon.

Pack up some lunch from your favorite downtown Oakdale spot, grab the life jackets, and head out to enjoy the cool side of the Cowboy Capital.
