Today we gathered at the Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport to celebrate the journey of a 34-foot La Catrina - the tallest in the United States - coming to Oakland’s Fruitvale District!

Handcrafted in Mexico City, La Catrina represents remembrance, cultural pride, belonging, and the powerful connection between Mexico and Oakland.

Visit Oakland is proud to be part of this incredible collaboration alongside The Unity Council, City of Oakland, the Consulate General of Mexico in San Francisco, Artsumex, and community partners.

La Catrina will be arriving to The Town October 1. Stay tuned to learn more.
