In 1983, the Memphis Transportation Museum had taken possession of Frisco Mike 1351. It had been placed on display at the Memphis Fairgrounds after being retired by the railroad. William Hayslip had been working on steam locomotives since 1976 so the Museum had him get 1351 ready to move. Here William Hayslip is greasing the crosshead and the piston rod. Later he will grease the driving box hubs and side rods. It took 2 long days to move her from the display site to Southerns Forrest Yard. Panel track was laid right behind the tender and as they moved, those panels were leapfrogged around the locomotive.
